While SBC Elites are silent, conservative Southern Baptists call for fight against Woke corporations.

While the ERLC is silent on the sexual indoctrination of children, and SBC Elites promote cheap tickets to Disneyland, the Conservative Baptist Network is calling on Southern Baptists to stand united for the protection of children.

In a statement released today, the Conservative Baptist Network (CBN) cited Disney’s opposition to the Parental Rights in Education bill and top content creators at the company seeking to indoctrinate children as reasons Christians should find other entertainment.

“We call on Disney to reverse course and stop its explicit assault on parents’ rights and its assault on children. Until then, we cannot, in good conscience and Christian witness, encourage fellow Southern Baptists to support a company bent on this ideological course,” the conservative Southern Baptists said.

The CBN pointedly called out the SBC Executive Committee’s arrangement that allows Southern Baptists to get discounted tickets to Disney.

“While Southern Baptist Convention leaders have announced an arrangement with Disney that offers messengers attending the SBC Annual Meeting in Anaheim discounted tickets to Disneyland this summer, the Conservative Baptist Network urges Southern Baptists to choose another family activity rather than support the anti-biblical agenda now clearly present within the Disney corporation,” the CBN said.

STATEMENT: The Conservative Baptist Network urges Southern Baptists to defend children against radical sexualization and gender confusion

April 1, 2022

In light of recent revelations displaying a desire on the part of Walt Disney Company leadership to expose children to homosexuality and transgenderism, the Conservative Baptist Network calls on Southern Baptists to unite in standing together for the protection of children and their innocence according to biblical values.

We call on Disney to reverse course and stop its explicit assault on parents’ rights and its assault on children. Until then, we cannot, in good conscience and Christian witness, encourage fellow Southern Baptists to support a company bent on this ideological course.

A few of the developments a growing number of Southern Baptists find disturbing include:

  • The Walt Disney Company publicly opposed Florida’s “Parental Rights in Education” bill, which Gov. Ron Desantis has now signed into law. The measure prohibits classroom instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity for students in kindergarten through third grade.
  • Disney Diversity and Inclusion Manager Vivian Ware said in a video that Disney will no longer welcome theme park guests by saying “ladies and gentlemen” or “boys and girls,” in their quest to remove “gendered greetings.”
  • Disney executive Karey Burke said in a video that as the mother of a transgender child and a pansexual child, she desires to lead Disney to increase the number of “LGBTQIA” characters in children’s stories.
  • In another video, Disney executive producer Latoya Raveneau described a “not-at-all-secret gay agenda” and her mission to add “queerness” in children’s entertainment as much as possible.

While Southern Baptist Convention leaders have announced an arrangement with Disney that offers messengers attending the SBC Annual Meeting in Anaheim discounted tickets to Disneyland this summer, the Conservative Baptist Network urges Southern Baptists to choose another family activity rather than support the anti-biblical agenda now clearly present within the Disney corporation.

In accordance with Scripture, the Conservative Baptist Network affirms that God is the author of the human race and that He created two genders: male and female. Sexual intimacy is likewise instituted by God and designed only for the confines of a marriage relationship between one man and one woman. Scripture says that if anyone causes a child to stumble, “it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea” (Mark 9:42).

Discussion of sexuality and gender identity is wildly inappropriate for children’s entertainment and children’s classrooms, and Southern Baptists—being committed to Scripture’s clear and sufficient teaching on these matters—should be eager to join in one accord to denounce this overt assault on children, parents’ rights, and biblical values.

Please join us in expressing to Disney that its abandonment of family values and embrace of the radical sexualization of children will not be condoned by those committed to following Jesus Christ.
