Samford University has fully imbibed Wokeness.

Samford University, a so-called evangelical Baptist institution, hosted pro-abortion and anti-conservative author Jon Meacham during an event on civil discourse. Jon Meacham, an MSNBC regular was featured by the university on March 22.

Which prompted this scathing analysis from one Anglican source: “Civil discourse? A regular commentator on hyper-partisan MSNBC, Meacham lamented in 2012 to Google employees that ‘in the popular mind there is politics and then there is culture and intellectual work and reason– uh, depending on what state you’re in.’ Shortly before the last presidential election he referred to Trump supporters as ‘anguished, nervous white guys” with ‘a lizard brain.’ More recently he told the audience at MSNBC, ‘You have a significant number of people calling themselves Republicans who would rather put their faith in an authoritarian rather than in the constitution.’”

In other words, this anti-conservative lunatic was platformed and promoted by an institution that most Baptists in Alabama would consider safe—or at the very least harmless.

Not so.

Samford has gone Woke.

Not only did it invite an MSNBC favorite, but the university has fully imbibed Wokeness.

It has embraced the Woke Gospel. Samford University is forcing racial identity politics into every facet of university life. The new administration is committed to DIE (diversity, inclusion, and equity).

According to First Things, “The Samford Report, recently endorsed by its board of trustees, recommends that every student organization be required to stage at least one event on race each year ‘to remain in good status with the university.’ Parents might wonder why a math or chess club must talk about race in order to survive.”

The report also detailed how racial identity politics would be included in academics too. Thus, it is impossible to escape Woke indoctrination at Samford.

Dr. David W. Virtue says it best, “Conservative evangelical parents wanting to send their sons and daughters to an institution that supports orthodox faith might want to think twice about Samford. . . . unless the president changes his ways and shows as much commitment to orthodoxy as he has shown to progressivism.”

Indeed.

These Woke institutions only understand they have gone too far when it hits their bottom line.
