The Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) announced a confidential financial settlement with an alleged sex abuse victim.

Where is the transparency in the Southern Baptist Convention?

Did the SBC Executive Committee sign an NDA?

According to the Associated Press, “A top Southern Baptist committee has publicly apologized and agreed to a confidential financial settlement with a sexual abuse survivor.”

A confidential financial settlement?

Why the secrecy?

If the Southern Baptist Convention has nothing to hide, then why is the settlement confidential? If it were not for the public apology, would anyone other than SBC Elites know about the settlement?

Are the people who pay the bills not entitled to know about financial settlements?

How many Cooperative Program dollars are being used to settle lawsuits?

Wither transparency in the SBC?

Why should anyone trust the Executive Committee with members like disgraced plagiarist Ed Litton?

Given the way the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) exploits the use of non-disclosure agreements, it is reasonable to ask if SBC Executive Committee members had to sign an NDA before being told about the terms of the financial settlement.

Not being frank with the people of the Southern Baptist Convention is a tradition among SBC Elites.

Mass firings at some of our seminaries are hidden with threats of no health benefits for the rest of a year unless an employee signs a perpetual non-disparagement and non-disclosure agreement. We know these were used at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (SWBTS) by the proven liars in the Greenway Administration. We know the same tactics were used (and offered to some) at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS).

Reckless financial behavior is common in the Southern Baptist Convention. Elites appear to enjoy spending God’s money. Gift cards and other issues plague our entities.

Also, we know the scandal plagued North American Mission Board (NAMB) paid for hundreds of families to attend last year’s SBC Annual Meeting to elect Ed Litton.

Trust the trustees? Haha!
