The Deep State is real, arrogant and must be destroyed. Presidents like Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon were attacked by Ivy League intellectuals at CIA & State. Now, a new generation of progressive bureaucrats are destroying what remains of the American system.
Here we go again. The entrenched Washington elite hope to overturn the 2016 Election. Where they failed with the new Red Scare of Russian conspiracy theories, they hope to use a CIA whistleblower’s secondhand information to scuttle Donald Trump’s 2020 re-election prospects. This new round is an example of how insiders weaponized their positions to leak, often untrue, information to a compliant press.
Even the whistleblower process is a political tool. According to The Federalist, “Between May 2018 and August 2019, the intelligence community secretly eliminated a requirement that whistleblowers provide direct, first-hand knowledge of alleged wrongdoings. This raises questions about the intelligence community’s behavior regarding the August submission of a whistleblower complaint against President Donald Trump. The new complaint document no longer requires potential whistleblowers who wish to have their concerns expedited to Congress to have direct, first-hand knowledge of the alleged wrongdoing that they are reporting.”
How convenient.
It follows the pattern of leaking to harm the Trump administration.
“The leaking of Flynn’s name was part of what can only be described as a White House campaign to hype the Russian threat and, at the same time, to depict Trump as Vladimir Putin’s Manchurian candidate. On Dec. 29, Obama announced sanctions against Russia as retribution for its hacking activities. From that date until Trump’s inauguration, the White House aggressively pumped into the media two streams of information: one about Russian hacking; the other about Trump’s Russia connection. In the hands of sympathetic reporters, the two streams blended into one.” (source)
Check the link. It details a few other examples of the way the leaks were used via a compliant press to undercut the elected president.
The only way to save America (and by save America I mean the Republic’s rule of law and our democratic institutions) is to purge these inclinations from politics. Unfortunately, these evil attitudes have dominated America’s foreign policy elites since at least the 1960s. Henry Kissinger provided two excellent examples of men who understood the problem of government employees working against the president. Thankfully, the examples are bipartisan: a Democrat and a Republican.
According to Kissinger in his book, White House Years, President Lyndon Johnson knew the pain of organized resistance within the administration. “He advised me to ensure that the bureaucracy was loyal; he had been destroyed, in part, he thought, by systematic leaking. ‘I have one piece of advice to give you, Professor,’ he said, and I leaned forward to profit from the distilled wisdom of decades of public service. ‘Read the columnists,’ he added, ‘and if they call a member of your staff thoughtful, dedicated, or any other friendly adjective, fire him immediately. He is your leaker.’ I left the Oval Office determined to do my utmost to spare the new Administration the heartache and isolation of Johnson’s waning days.”
Kissinger explains how President Richard Nixon viewed the entrenched foreign policy bureaucracy, “He had a massive organizational problem, he said. He had very little confidence in the State Department. Its personnel had no loyalty to him; the Foreign Service had disdained him as Vice President and ignored him the moment he was out of office. He was determined to run foreign policy from the White House.”
And the intelligence community earned an even harsher rebuke from Nixon. According to Kissinger, “He felt it imperative to exclude the CIA from the formulation of policy; it was staffed by Ivy League liberals who behind the facade of analytical objectivity were usually pushing their own preferences. They had always opposed him politically.”
And, “Even more than the State Department, Nixon considered the CIA a refuge of Ivy League intellectuals opposed to him.”
Kissinger praised the professional bureaucracy. It is filled with smart, capable people. Yet, the praise would also include something else to ponder. For example, “This is a particular problem for a Secretary of State. He is at the head of an organization staffed by probably the ablest and most professional group of men and women in public service. They are intelligent, competent, loyal, and hardworking. But the reverse side of their dedication is the conviction that a lifetime of service and study has given them insights that transcend the untrained and shallow-rooted views of political appointees.”
In other words, they believe they know better.
And no doubt, that’s true of the minutiae of what is happening in another country. However, often, these creates a strategic myopia—where the bureaucrat doesn’t see the entire geopolitical strategy.
Another Kissinger warning, “When I later became Secretary, I discovered that it was a herculean effort even for someone who had made foreign policy his life’s work to dominate the State Department cable machine. Woe to the uninitiated at the mercy of that extraordinary and dedicated band of experts.”
Woe indeed.
Woe to anyone rethinking the post-World War 2 order.
The corrosive national political moment is a direct descendant of the Vietnam-era attacks on Johnson and Nixon. Elites think they know better. They manipulated leaks. They utilized the compliant press then.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
The Christian response to impeachment and attacks on President Donald Trump
So, what does this mean for America?
How should conservatives and Christians respond?
Not like David French.
French, the National Review writer and cheese eating surrender monkey to the culture, is a Never Trumper, so his response is to attack President Trump and Pastor Robert Jeffress.
Not irresponsible. It is the state of the country. The irresponsible one is you–pretending progressives aren't seeking the total destruction of Christians and conservatives.

The proper response is fight.
The enemy. Not other conservatives.
Christians must recognize that radical progressives are the enemy.
Progressives seek our destruction. They will not be happy until you are reduced to worshiping their secular gods.
As a Christian, you have no choice but to resist.
And that is why Donald Trump is a much better ally (even with his ethical foibles) than the cultural appeasers like Russell Moore and French. They refuse to see what is plain to everyone else–progressives want to destroy Christians.
Doubt that? Read Todd Starnes new book that explains how liberals are attacking our nation and our faith.
The future of America hangs in the balance. The Christian response should be to use all political means at our disposal for the preservation of our Republic.
Ignore the voices of cultural appeasement.
