The 53-man rosters are now complete, and heading into the 2014 season Alabama is again well represented.
The biggest story of the new NFL year, at least as far as Alabama is concerend, is Vinnie Sunseri. Let me be the first to say it. I was wrong. I’m wrong a couple of times a year, and the Vinnie Sunseri story was one of those times. I thought him coming out for the 2014 draft was ridiculous, but apparently the New Orleans Saints didn’t. Sunseri joins New Orleans for the upcoming season, getting paid for playing a game. Way to go Vinnie.
The oldest Alabama player on an active NFL roster is San Diego’s Jarret Johnson. At 33, Johnson has been in the league for 12 years.
All in all, Alabama has 36 players spread over 22 different NFL teams; 23 of those are defensive players. 13 are offensive, with Carson Tinker being the lone designated special teams player, now in his second year with the Jaguars.
Here is a list of the players who made the cut around the league.

So is AJ McCarron done or will he possibly latch on with another team?
AJ is listed on the “non-injury reserve” list, still with the Bengals. It’s been a weird situation. I’ve heard he wanted to be traded to St. Louis, but the Bengals wouldn’t release him. So he’s still getting paid, just not doing much to earn it. Think of it as the NFL’s welfare system.
AJ was supposed have a realty show in the works???? I nominate Kenny Stabler for NFL HALL OF FAME
