Endorsements prove there is no split between conservatives in the fight against Woke Ideology infiltrating conservative Southern Baptist churches.

A prominent non-Calvinist endorsed Dr. Tom Ascol for President of the Southern Baptist Convention. In a video released on social media, Z. Scott Colter said he would cast his ballot in Anaheim for Ascol.

“I am standing with Dr. Tom Ascol,” Colter said. “I look forward to casting my vote for him in June of this year in Anaheim, California as the next president of the Southern Baptist Convention. I pray you would join me in that effort. We must all stand together in order to change the direction.”

#ChangeTheDirection is the campaign theme of conservative Southern Baptists concerned about the Liberal, Leftward Drift of the SBC. And it is without controversy, except by Leftist liars, that the SBC has drifted leftward. In fact, the SBC has a pro-CRT stand even as secular organizations are fighting back against the wicked ideology.

Colter cited exactly this as one of the many reasons for troubles in the Southern Baptist Convention.

“There are unbiblical ideologies influencing our denomination through various ways,” Colter said. “It came to a head in 2019 with the adoption of Resolution 9, wherein it was stated that Critical Race Theory was a useful analytical tool.”

Colter, who is a professor and Director of Strategic Initiatives at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary (MABTS), cited other issues such as the breakdown of biblical gender roles and issues of transparency with Southern Baptist Convention entities.

“We are doing more and spending more but being less and less successful in our ministry endeavors,” Colter said.

Colter cited declining evangelism and baptism stats to support this claim.

“We are heading the wrong direction and it is time to change that direction,” Colter said.

Colter made clear there are theological differences between himself and Ascol; however, those differences are small given the threat to orthodoxy posed by Woke ideologies.

“He is a known Calvinist and I am a known non-Calvinist. We disagree on matters of soteriology and theology and many doctrines and important doctrines,” Colter said. “However, we agree on the challenges before us today in our denomination. And we agree the solution to those challenges is a return to an orthodox position of sufficiency and inerrancy of the Word of God. Just yesterday, I read an article where it was described as if your house is on fire and the firemen are coming in to extinguish that fire, in that moment you are not interested in the fireman’s college football allegiances, you are working together against a common challenge. That is the situation where we find ourselves today.”

Other prominent Southern Baptist non-Calvinist leaders are supporting Dr. Ascol.

In fact, eight of the 11 nominating Dr. Ascol are non-Calvinists.

There is a consensus among conservatives that Dr. Ascol is the only candidate to support in Anaheim.
