REPORT: Tide now with only 82 on scholarship
Alabama now has only 82 players on scholarship, according to a report from Rivals. According to the report, Alabama football player Sam Burnthall, a junior defensive back, has left the team. This leaves Alabama with 82 players on scholarship. The NCAA limit is 85. Those scholarships could be given to walkon players, or saved for use in the future.

Tide ends two-a-days
Wednesday was the final two-a-day session of fall camp for the Crimson Tide.

“Practice was pretty grueling today,” said Alabama offensive lineman Marlon Davis. “We worked hard in the morning practice and it was a little cooler. Sometimes when it is a little cooler, like today, you get a little lazy, but you have to push through it and be mentally tough.”

Davis said at this stage of camp there are more sore legs and injuries, but players continue pushing, working for the future.

Injury update

Brad Smelley who suffered an injured hamstring earlier in camp returned to practice Wednesday.

Motley adjusting to offense
Brian Motley, sophomore, is adjusting to offense. He played offensive and defensive lines in high school and spent last season shoring up the Tide’s thin defensive unit. But this fall, Motley is back on the offensive side of things. An injured hand in spring sped his return to offense. Motley said he was told he couldn’t use the hand during drills, and this prompted the suggestion to return to offense.

The move to offensive line isn’t much different, he said. Mostly it comes down to getting into the habit of different footwork and hand placement, he said.

“Camp is going good so far, everybody is working hard,” Motley said.
