“Finally I’m headed to The Capstone.” Words from Alabama’s latest recruiting get, JUCO cornerback standout Deion Belue.

Belue became the second JUCO corner to announce Tuscaloosa as his new home this week, joining the #1 overall JUCO corner in the land, Travell Dixon, earlier this week. Like Dixon, and running back TJ Yeldon, Belue looks to enroll in January.

Belue signed with Alabama in 2010 but failed to qualify academically. He spent the last two years getting his house in order at Northeast Mississippi Community College.

It appears Alabama head coach Nick Saban is stocking up on defensive back talent in anticipation of reloading Alabama’s secondary for 2012. The Tide loses Mark Barron and DeQuan Menzie to graduation, and will likely lose at least Dre Kirkpatrick to the NFL draft, projected as a first rounder. As many as five current Bama players are projected to go in the first round of next year’s draft, which would be a state record.

As mentioned, Belue would join Dixon, as well as incoming freshman and rivals 4-start corner Geno Smith, listed as the 4th overall corner in this class by Rivals (7th on Scout; 2nd on ESPN).

All three would join 5-star Eddie Williams, a WR/S possibility ranked 3rd by Rivals (5th by Scout). ESPN lists Williams as the 9th overall prospect at any position in all the land.

Returners in the secondary are safeties Vinnie Sunseri and Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix, and corners Demarcus Milliner and John Fulton. Starting free safety Robert Lester is expected to test his stock in the NFL draft, but could return as well.

In addition to playing defensive back, Belue is expected to contribute with punt and kick return duties as well.
