Mike Huckabee on the Todd Starnes Show makes final argument for Mike Stone as balloting for SBC President is this afternoon in Nashville.

Huckabee defended SBC Presidential candidate Mike Stone and called on Southern Baptists to fight the Woke forces attempting to change the Southern Baptist Convention. Huckabee made the comments on the Todd Starnes Show.

I’ve seen some things really ugly happen to a good, good man, Mike Stone, who is going to be nominated for president of the convention,” Huckabee said. “I hope he wins. I think he would be terrific. He has shown grace and a great sense of calm under fire.”

Huckabee said the church in general and Southern Baptists should stand up to the minority who wants to make the SBC woke.

“There are some people, I think it’s a small minority, that would love to see the Baptists specifically and evangelicalism in general become more woke become a little more in tune with a modern culture so that we’re not castigated as being out, you know, outdated,” Huckabee told Todd Starnes. And then there are those who believe that it is not the job of the church to tune to the ever-changing culture. It’s the job of the church to tell the culture what the notes are and ask the culture to tune to the biblical standard and to the standard of God.”

Huckabee also defended SBC Executive Committee President Ronnie Floyd.

Huckabee said, “And my good friend Ronnie Floyd, who is the executive committee president and a terrific guy, I’ve known him for over 30 years. He was one of the greatest pastors in Arkansas before he went to this job. And people have been saying some just ridiculous things about him. I know him to be a man of impeccable integrity. And I think the attacks on people that are known to be honorable and men of integrity, I think they’re going to backfire.”

Starnes asked about the Southern Baptist decision to snub Huckabee and the other Southern Baptist in the race Ted Cruz during a candidate forum prior to the 2016 Presidential primaries. The only candidates invited to the SBC by lifelong Democrat Russell Moore were Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton.

“I had to scratch my head about that,” Huckabee said. “I’m thinking, okay, look, I like Marco and Jeb. They’re both good guys, but they’re Catholic. I’m not sure why you would think that they would be better able to represent the world of Christians and politics, more so than somebody who once was the president of the Arkansas Baptist Convention and was on the National Executive Committee for several years. Maybe that would have been a good choice. But, you know, what do I know?” Now Russell Moore is gone. He has taken his lifelong Democrat self to the Progressive Christianity Today.
