The Big 12 Board of Directors met Monday in Dallas, and the meeting included a plea for Missouri to stay in the conference. Missouri is widely expected to be headed for the SEC; however, no official word from either Missouri or the SEC yet. Will it come? Or will Mizzou listen to the Big 12?

All of this took place at an “undisclosed location.” So, there you go. Of interest to all should be the discussion of a dedicated television network for the conference. Is this an attempt to sweeten the pot and keep Missouri in the Big 12?

Here is the official release from the Big 12:
In a regularly-scheduled meeting today at an undisclosed Dallas area location, the Big 12 Conference Board of Directors reaffirmed previous action to execute institutional grants of Tier 1 (over-the-air) and Tier 2 (cable) television rights to the Conference.

The Board also discussed a wide range of topics including NCAA legislation, the Bowl Championship Series, and exploration of a Conference dedicated TV network. Additionally, a strong desire for the University of Missouri to maintain its Big 12 affiliation was expressed. All 10 member institutions and TCU participated in the meeting. (Source)

  1. The Big 12 SHOULD be trying to wooo Mizzou into staying. Give Mizzou want they want! They belong in the Big 12! Mizzou wants 1. at least a 10 year grant of tier 1 and tier 2 tv rights from every school in the Big 12. 2. Get back to 12 teams in the conference (Louisville and Cincinnati or West Virgina, though in my opinion Louisville and Cincinnati make the most sense. And 3. A proposed Big 12 network to make everyone more money. Is it just me or does Mizzou seem to make a lot of sense here? All they want is STABILITY and there is NO reason that can’t be in the Big 12.
