Nick’s Kids Receives $250,000 Donation From Taylor Swift
The gift will be utilized specifically for area tornado relief efforts.

Nick’s Kids, the philanthropic fund established by Nick and Terry Saban, has received a donation of $250,000 from music superstar Taylor Swift’s Speak Now…Help Now fund to aid in the tornado relief efforts of West Alabama. Nick’s Kids has joined Project Team Up along with Habitat for Humanity in rebuilding homes and that process is already well underway.

“In the weeks since the massive tornado, Terry and I have been working on many projects trying to make a small difference in the devastation that impacted thousands of people in Alabama,” said Alabama head football coach Nick Saban. “Taylor Swift’s overwhelmingly generous gift will go a long way in helping our rebuilding efforts. Since all of our Nick’s Kids staff and workers are volunteers, every dollar will go towards the relief efforts. We are so grateful that such a talented and successful young person is thoughtful enough to do something to make a positive impact on those who need it most. Taylor deserves a big Roll Tide from our community and we sincerely thank her for joining the team at Nick’s Kids.”

A leading celebrity philanthropist, Swift has donated more than $1 Million to charity in the past year alone. Her Speak Now…Help Now benefit raised more than $750,000 for tornado victims, and she donated $500,000 to Tennessee flood victims last year. She has also made contributions to schools and education initiatives, the Iowa flood relief, and several other Red Cross disaster relief funds, in addition to being involved in numerous benefit concerts.

Nick’s Kids has generated approximately $2 Million since Nick and Terry Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa in 2007. The money is raised through various Nick’s Kids events, appearances and speaking engagements by Nick and Terry, as well as individual gifts like this one from Taylor Swift. Since the April 27th storm, over $77,000 has been donated to Project Team Up, $112,000 donated to Habitat for Humanity, and $55,000 donated to Tuscaloosa Tornado Relief efforts through Nick’s Kids Fund.
