Pro Football Talk reports that former Alabama Crimson Tide superstar Kenny Stabler’s house is up for auction to pay Uncle Sam. According to PFT, “The sale was required by a January 9, 2009 order of the United States District Court of the Southern District of Alabama, in an effort to collect on a tax lien in the amount of $579,250.
“The lien arises from unpaid federal income tax assessments imposed against Stabler for the tax years 1999, 2000, and 2001 and Stabler Company, Inc. for the tax years 1995, 1998, 1999, and 2000, an unpaid federal employment tax assessment of Stabler Company, Inc. for the tax period ending December 31, 1999, and an unpaid civil penalty assessment against Stabler Company, Inc. for the tax year 2000.”
The auction is set for April 22, 2009. You can read all the details of the sale at this federal government site. According to the feds the property is a “2850 sq. ft. home with immediate Gulf access.
