Hugh Nall believes Mrs. Tuberville
Former Auburn assistant coach Hugh Nall endorsed Olive Tuberville’s claim that her son was fired by Auburn. The best Auburn blog out there, Jay G. Tate’s, provided this quote today: On Olive Tuberville’s assertion that her son was fired: “If Olive Tuberville told me it was going to be cold out, I’d wear the biggest coat I’ve got. That’s all that needs to be said there.”

When given the choice between believing Tommy Tuberville’s mother or Jay Jacobs—I’d side with Tommy’s mother too.

Auburn fans should read the Capstone Report
While we were talking about Olive Tuberville’s comments a week ago, ESPN and Auburn fans are only this week confronting the reality of what Tommy’s mother told the O-A News.

This comes during a week where ESPN went public with the statement by Tuberville’s mother, Olive, that her son was fired and didn’t resign as athletic director Jay Jacobs tearfully described at last week’s press conference.—TrackEmTigers

ESPN reported it because the AP moved a story on it. If you checked the Capstone Report, you would have learned about the O-A News report four days before the mainstream media began talking about it.

That is an eternity in the age of the Internet for the great reporting done by the O-A News to be ignored. That is four days to build a case against your athletic director Jay Jacobs.

Jacobs is now the target of a website seeking his ouster. FireJayJacobs.com attempts to outline a case against the athletic director. This is a tough time for the Auburn family and many Auburn fans worry the coaching search is headed toward the abyss.

Reality is starting to hit home for the Auburn football program. Simply put, no proven coach wants the job. Let’s face it, for all the resources it has, the Auburn gig is perhaps the most unattractive big-time college football job in America. That is an overreaction. Jacobs is a liar and obviously out of his depth, but things can work out. Auburn is a good job. I’ll again point Auburn fans to Tate’s analysis—simply put, Auburn’s leaders likely had a plan of attack and a target in their sights before Tuberville was let go.

That should encourage Auburn supporters. It might not work out the way you hope or the way Auburn insiders would like, but you have to let the search unfold. Things are seldom as bad as they seem. It seems like I wrote that sentence about a million times during the turmoil of the Alabama coaching search. I’d say things ended nicely for Alabama.

  1. Wow,,,,,I am starting to get an idea of just how much the streak really bothered you dorks. Its incredible. I knew that it bothered you guys some, but WOW !!!

    You never heard this much petty B.S. on any Auburn blog or media outlet when Bama was going through one of thier many coaching changes. “Momma said”,,,for goodness sakes people, let it go.

    After all, didnt you just kick our tail in the Iron Bowl ? Wasnt the score like 39-0 or something like that ? Arent yall “The University of Alabama”……I thought yall would have more of that Bama patented “class”.

  2. Yes, the streak bothered me soooo much that I’m defending Tommy Tuberville and trying to make sure people know the truth about how he was screwed over.

    I’m also trying to encourage Auburn fans that things usually look much worse than they really are…that things get better as the search plays out…usually.

    Yeah, I’m so horrible for doing all that. 🙂

  3. You said all of that ? Wow ! I guess if Id read the last paragraph I wouldve seen all the “encouragement”. Hey, Im a big boy. Let er rip. Just dont act like you were all warm and fuzzy Cap. You know thw intentions of the article. Its akin to me ragging Saban , The Tide, Mal Moore, etc. for an hour, and then at the end say ” But hey guys, cheer up, its not all bad”……And expect everyone to think the article was pro-Bama.

  4. I’m trying to make sure the truth is told. I have this dedication to the truth….some Alabama fans didn’t like it when I was talking about Mike Shula. Auburn fans didn’t like it when I was saying Tuberville was making mistakes…and some Auburn fans won’t like it now that I keep pointing toward how big a liar Jay Jacobs is.

    Oh well…I’ll just keep trying my best to get the truth out there. Truth is its own reward. 🙂

  5. Ballplay, you Auburn people had all kinds of fun during the Bama coaching searches and you know it. Just about every Auburn fan out there thinks Mal Moore is the reason for all of Bamas troubles when in fact he was the one that has cleaned up the mess. But you can tell Jacobs is not a great AD, and I would worry if that guy is having to make the tough decisions. But we all know who will really hire the new coach. The same ones who fired the last one. That is what is being discussed Ballplay. Auburn acting like Tub left them high and dry. More than likely Houston Nutt showed interest, Auburn fired Tubbs, and Nutt decided to stay. Now we have this situation.

You are pretty straight up in your columns, but much like the drive by media, its what I read between the lines that bothers me.. Like I said before, if you wanna be an A-hole, just be an A-hole. Dont try to hide behind an “I just wanna get the truth out there” load of crapola. But other than that your great.

    And Brando, I agree 100%……….Just busting on caps balls. But please tell me that our boosters and Athletic director never seriously considered Nutt. If they did, they should all be canned.

  8. It was reported last Friday that Nutt was offered but turned it down. Look at who we know Auburn has talked to, and Nutt would be better than any of those unproven head coaches are. But I am starting to believe that Nutt was in the plans initially. Auburn had no problems getting a coach from Ole Miss before, so it is not entirely out of the question. But Nutt did get a raise after 1 year thanks to Auburn.

    That would be insane. As a fan, I do NOT want to be on a coaching carousell for the next five years. I would rather let someone like Nall coach until we find someone for hte long haul.

  14. Hugh Nall is in fact working for an un-named Trucking Co. in Georgia.
    In a semi-related matter. Coach Yoxall went to work at a Waffle House on Interstate 20 near Moody, Alabama with Al Bourges.
    Al says:
    “yeah… it was just one of those things, I knew I had to start eating a more health conscience diet and Waffle House just seemed to make sense to me.”
