Secondary violations matter. Just as the University of Tennessee.
It makes the NCAA mad, or at least gets you on the NCAA radar. Having a big mouth where you insult people and accuse them of cheating tends to make you a target too. So when you combine a dumbass with NCAA attention, you get an NCAA investigation in Knoxville.
According to the New York Times, “A significant part of the investigation is focused on the use of recruiting hostesses who have become folk heroes on Tennessee Internet message boards for their ability to help lure top recruits.â€
Nothing compares to easy coeds to lure football players to campus. Doubt it? Just ask recruits.
According to the New York Times, “Because of their influence on recruits, the recruiting hostesses have become popular with Tennessee fans. Bryce Brown, the country’s top running back recruit last year, who is a freshman at Tennessee, was pictured on a social networking site last year with a hostess. Other Tennessee hostesses have publicly conversed with prospects through Facebook and MySpace.â€
But the sluts aren’t the only part of the investigation; they are just the most sensational. Tennessee fans will pass over the most important part of the story. The New York Times reports, “The N.C.A.A. is conducting a wide-ranging investigation into the University of Tennessee’s football recruiting practices, . . .†If you read the story, the hostesses are only a part of the investigation, and the probe is wide-ranging. If you kept up with Alabama football, those words would send chills down your spine.
Of course, Volunteers have taken the Auburn path and attacked the nattering nabobs of negativism in the press. According to 3Sib, “On a final note, the ‘journalist’ who wrote this story took way, way too many liberties, in my opinion and editorialized quite a lot. It was very unprofessional, and while the core of the story is still concerning to UT fans, the malicious nature of the way the NYT let this story run is laughable and disgraceful to newspapers out there that try to report the news and stay away from the tabloid nature of the business. Personally, I feel that they’ve already put the noose around Tennessee’s neck.â€
No Mr. Volunteer fan, pimping your Hoes put the noose around your neck. It wasn’t the New York Times, or any reporter covering the train wreck of a program you have in Knoxville. While it is easy to blame the press, it is the same myopia that afflicted the Alabama program for years. Until you can see the truth, fans will continue to enable these types of problems. The most concerning reaction is from Volunteer fans at GoVolsXtra.com—here the reaction has ranged from “USC does it!†to “Alabama and Michigan do it worse!â€
None of that is helpful.
The most comical reaction continues to be from Volunteer fans who believe everyone in the SEC is afraid of Lane Kiffin.
I guess that makes Phil Fulmer afraid of Mike Dubose.
Speaking of Fulmer, has anyone kept up with him lately? Could he be playing Deep Throat again? On second thought, maybe a Deep Throat reference isn’t so wise considering the nature of these NCAA violations. I’d guess in this instance, such an action would be considered an extra benefit.
Last year I asked the simple question, would Lane Kiffin or Gene Chizik land their program under NCAA probation first. I guess we all know the answer to that question now.

Now we know why Tenn has been doing so well in recruiting. Looks like Tenn might be staring down the barrel of a gun. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of fans.
Spin your way out of this one Indy Vile!
No offense, and I’m not knocking you because all of this may be true, but you know nothing yet. None of us do. But it’s a little unfair to be saying that UT is “pimping its hoes.” None of that has been proven, either.
And while the story is legitimate (as I noted) a lot of the language and the way that report was presented was not. It reeked of yellow journalism.
Since you attacked my post, I just wanted to clear that up. I read the NYT daily, and I don’t mind the newspaper most of the time. I am not saying the paper “has it out” for the Vols or anything. I just thought the way the story was reported wasn’t completely fair.
I know you’re hoping beyond all hope that we’ll get the death penalty, but I just don’t see any of this being that serious.
By the way, UT pimping its hoes was not even alleged. Sure, to the general public it looks that way, but at the center of the investigation is the hostesses A) Taking a 200-mile trip (who paid) and B) Them holding up signs saying “Come to Tennessee” which may be a recruiting violation.
That’s it. No naughty business even alleged. So, you have no clue what you’re writing about.
Good day, homey.
Unlike you, I don’t wish bad to a rival program.
I just think you guys are deluding yourself about Kiffin and his methods.
And I don’t think you know what the center of the investigation is. This is “wide-ranging” and the “hostesses” are only one part of it.
Chris Low on his ESPN blog interviewed top prospect Marcus Lattimore of Byrnes HS. 2 of Lattimores teammates, Brandon Lewis and Corey Miller, have committed to the Viles. According to Lattimore, the hostesses had “a lot” of influence on his teammates committing to Tenn. Lattimore also added “I haven’t seen no other schools do that. It’s crazy.”
Spin it all you want, Ghost, but there’s no way the coaches didn’t know about this. And like Cap said, the hostess thing is only a small part of the overall investigation.
Wow, the fact that this is an Alabama publication says it all. Proofread your goddamn material you freaking retarded inbred idiot!
Roger, since you are such an expert with the English language–what would you like fixed?
Roger – Go back and read a little slower. You obviously tried to go too fast and overheated the three functioning brain cells that have survived the home-brew. Exactly what needed proofreading? Do you even know what that means? Maybe find a dictionary that was published since the early 1900’s somewhere in TN and look it up before using the word anymore.
Boys and girls,
The slUTs (appropriate phrase don’t you think) are gonna circle the wagons on this one but the fact of the matter is this is HUGE. The NCAA is questioning kids that haven’t even enrolled in school at slUT. That is MAJOR! Look for some interesting things to come of this. The recruits are going to be asked about one on one contact with hostesses just like the Colorado episode. You see how that turned out. When the NCAA starts looking under rocks they’re going to find more than slUT will bargain for. Things are so right with the world now. Bama and slUT are back where they’re supposed to be. Here’s hoping that Karma is going to be a bitch!!!
“Pimpin with Kiffin”
@6, you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. That was from the NYT article. Low only referenced it.
Thanks for playing.
Oh by the way, thanks for the link.
And I’m pretty sure “wide-ranging” means that they’re interviewing multiple people in multiple states. But I don’t know that. Neither do you.
I guess that you missed where the NY Times guy writes the hostesses are only PART of it, albeit a significant part. 🙂
This is the dumbest article I have ever read!! Do you know anything about recruiting? You sound like this is some MAJOR recruiting violation!
It is obvious you do not like UT and just could not wait to bash UT and Kiffin.
Please read this article from SI and then realize how pathetic your article sounded!
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1143053/index.htm
Thanks
So Mr. FEARinSEC, it is OK to use women as simple pawns in an effort to lure recruits to your school?
To say that the coached know NOTHING of this is ridiculous. Lane Kiffin has ALL the knowledge in the world of what that program is doing. Don’t be surprised if other program (Auburn) go to EXTREME measure to get recruits due to Saban and Meyer. It’s just facts.
I will however try to learn more facts on this until more information comes out so I can really say UcheaT!!!
Well, MR. Cap, according to the NCAA it is since half the other schools in the country are not being “investigated” for it. You should have been the last one to write this article since BAMA has used strippers! A little hypocritical aren’t you??
Am I saying it is right, no, but I’m also not going to make a huge deal out of it. It’s not like we’re paying players to come to UT (Albert Means).
Again, Thanks!
I guess if everyone else cheats then it is OK for you to cheat too?
And I love how you change the subject to how bad someone else cheats.
I’m warning you guys that this type of thinking is what hurt Alabama. Read what I wrote. This type of enabling leads to bad, bad things. 🙂
vols, dont woryy about it. That “scathing” NYT article about Auburns Sociology program that dipwad Shane memorized and still quotes every other day, had ZERO effect on Auburn. The Bama people just dont get it.
Right. The fact that your school was the butt of jokes around the country had no impact on Auburn.
Please. It forced changes in the sociology department down at Auburn, and this story includes NCAA investigators already talking to recruits. That is serious–in a way that academics is not. 😉
“Ballplay Indian Says:

vols, dont woryy about it.”
===============================
BPI — They SHOULD be worried about it. Especially when the biggest newspaper in the nation and one of the most read in the world is on top of it.
I remember the sociology incident at Auburn and IT DID cause a stir — even the few Auburn friends I have were sweating bullets. I was sweating bullets with the Dodge Charger incident. Anytime your program has allegations that can possibly bring sanctions down the road from the NCAA (they do take some time too — like years — look at the STILL ongoing USC/Reggie Bush fiasco) IS a big deal.
Mr. Cap, apparently you comprehend about as well as you write an article. I did not say it is ok to cheat if everyone else cheats too, I said that if using “hostesses” was cheating, then the NCAA would have to investigate a ton of other schools. Including BAMA. I did not change the subject, I was merely pointing out that you should not be “calling the kettle black”.
Not everyone pimps their girls to get recruits. Despite what you think. 🙂
I have seen nothing that states UT is “pimping” their girls to get recruits?Only thing I read is that some “hostesses” went to a high school football game.
Please state your sources and provide a link?
Please. Pimping is used in only the most innocent of ways…in that UT is using its attractive coeds to get the attention of recruits. If you infer anything else, it is probably because you aren’t naive. 😉
That’s what I thought. Have a nice day Cappy! I’m moving on, nothing credible here.
Right. I simply offer you some perspective from the view where your type of thinking has hurt a football program, and you ignore it.
If you don’t wake up the NCAA will open a permanent office in Knoxville, and your program will repeat the problems of Alabama under Mike Dubose.
Heed me or ignore me, it doesn’t change the corrupt culture you athletic department has embraced. Not to sound dramatic, but you can either do the right thing or the wrong thing. Profit by Alabama’s example, or you can repeat Alabama’s mistakes.
I know your answer. You are desperate to win. You are so desperate to win that you will embrace such wanton actions.
Nothing major will come of this. You will see. But keep praying it does. You guys really have no reason to fear UT and Kiffin the way you do.
You’ve got a MNC to play for, after all.
Keep telling yourself that Ghost.
I’m just warning you that there will be NCAA penalties in the near future because of Kiffin. I’m betting Urban Meyer, Dabo @ Clemson and Steve Spurrier are turning you guys in for every little thing you do. Something is bound to stick.
People are interested in UT because of Fulmer’s involvement in Alabama’s troubles. Most of Alabama’s troubles were self-created—You guys should take heed.
Football hostesses were Bear Bryant’s idea (seriously).
Fear Tennessee and Kiffin? Are you completely out of your fuckin’ mind. (oops, pun intended). We are Bama! We don’t fear anybody! What we do, is hate the ever lovin’ shit out of you!!! Bwwaaa Haaww Haaww! RTR!
What you do is get lucky beating us because our kicker can’t kick a football Saban-high.
By the way, enjoy, Bammers.
http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2009/12/09/ncaa-probes-tennessee-hostesses/
What you did is get lucky that after having your ass kicked for 57 minutes, our Heisman winner loses the only fumble of his career while running out the clock! And the refs didn’t call the illegal touch or formation on the onside kick. Anyway we preferred it that way. Beating your asses like that, hurt you much worse than a beatdown and still functioned the same for us! Lookey where we’re at, slUT! RTR!
BTW Ghost, the NY Times guy was on Finebaum today and just said everything I said earlier about this going into ALL Tennessee recruiting practices.
I told you so. 🙂
ESPN’s Chris Low is the one responsible for putting the “pimp” spin on it.He made multiple references to “oral” commitments instead of just saying verbal commitments.Don’t think for a minute that it coincidental.Yet ESPN flagged my account for posting that Emergency personnel had to be called to a local motel because some UT hostesses were choking on some small bones.Go figure.
This would also explain why UT’s FG kicker is so weak-legged.
Damn, Bear must be up there talkin’ to the Boss for us! This is one helluva Christmas guys. Undefeated, Iron Bowl victory, Beat Florida, SEC championship, Heisman Trophy, Texas, National Championship and now slUT! Damn! Damn! RTR!
By the way guys, if anybody has any connections, you should suggest to the coaching staff to show the team the movie The Express just before the game. Talk about pissing the team off at the Texas Longhorns! And especially our athletes of the darker persuasion. The opening scene really sets the theme! Whew! What a perfect fit! RTR!
I think you struck a nerve Cap, keep up the good work!
Let’s go to Pasadena, slaughter Bevo, and have us a Triple Meat Whopper! RTR!
I bet Knoxville smells like tuna.
Was just a matter of time before Lame screwed it up for the queers.Every thing big al of the Raiders said is so true.Wish nothing but the worst for the queers…
Ha! Ha!
Could not happen to a more deserving wannabe.
“hypocrisy has no bounds”
Anything to keep up, whoring out your young ladies, what is next because this is not working
If money and sex can not buy it, it can not be bought. Try honest hard work it seems to work best for long term success.
If the barn only had enough good looking women, they have the other part covered.
It sux to be an aubarn tiger!
You have to suck to be a vol-in-queer!
3 SiB. You should have paid closer attention. Even if Cody did not block the kick, Julio Jones was 12 to 13 feet in the air and directly in the line of the ball. So, even IF the ball had been kicked above 6 feet in the air, Jones would have spiked it. You need to face the fact thatthe only thing your coach has that is bigger than our coach is his ego. His pride lost that game, not your kicker. Stop making excuses douchebag.
And where is that little bitch IndianaVol? Looks like your coeds are the cheaters. Fuck you Vols.
