Now is the time to expel Democrats from our churches

As Democrats push for the national codification of abortion up to birth, the only Christian response is to expel from church membership anyone who votes Democrat. Unrepentant sin cannot be tolerated within the church and voting for pro-abortion politicians is sinful.

On Thursday, Joe Biden urged fellow Democrats to eliminate the filibuster to pass a national law that would allow abortion up to the moment of birth.

“The most important thing to be clear about is we have to codify Roe v. Wade into law and the way to do that is to make sure Congress votes to do that,” Mr. Biden, a Democrat, said during a news conference in Spain, according to the Wall Street Journal. “And if the filibuster gets in the way, it’s like voting rights, it should be provided an exception for this…to the filibuster.”

The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last week in the landmark Dobbs decision. Of course, the law Biden and Democrats promote does much more than Roe v. Wade—it expands abortion access beyond the regulatory scheme of viability conceived of by the Supreme Court in the 1973 decision.

The Women’s Health Protection Act is rightly described as “radical” by conservative groups. According to Heritage, “The abortion policy represented by this bill would be far more extreme than what the Supreme Court imposed in Roe.”

And to vote for Democrats in 2022 and 2024 is to vote for this radical, pro-abortion stand. Thus, the only Christian response is to expel anyone who votes Democrat. We first suggested this path in 2019, when we argued, Church discipline for supporting Democrats—the Party of Infanticide.

We asked in 2019, “If the church rightfully would expel unrepentant racists, why shouldn’t the church expel unrepentant voters who enable abortion?”

Believers don’t help murderers murder.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but Thou Shall Not Kill is kind of a big deal for Christians. And any Christian who cannot or will not affirm this and vote according to it, should be placed under church discipline. (See, the biblical argument for church discipline for Democrats.)

Now there appears to be a growing recognition this the right path.

Tom Buck, pastor of First Baptist Church of Lindale, Texas, posted a Twitter poll on this very topic. Buck’s poll shows overwhelming support for placing pro-abortion voters under church discipline. The results show Christians are starting to recognize voters who vote for pro-abortion candidates are involved in grave sin.

Buck asked, “Now that every vote for a Democrat could lead to legalizing the murder of the unborn, should churches discipline members who vote for a “pro-abortion” candidate? And with 986 votes cast as of 6 a.m. Central time Friday morning, “Yes” stood at 66.4% and “No” stood at 33.6%.

Those are encouraging results. And the results are correct.

The Church has no place for a muddled message on abortion. To allow unrepentant Democrats within the Church would allow sin within the camp. It must not be tolerated. Such sinners must be driven from the Church.
