Conservative Baptist Network blasts Greear over ‘divisive’ speech

JD Greear attacks conservatives in speech to SBC Executive Committee

CBN says ‘thousands of Southern Baptist pastors and churches are tired of condescending attitudes and diatribes’ from SBC Elites

The Conservative Baptist Network of Southern Baptists rebuked Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) President J.D. Greear for a “divisive speech” that smeared SBC churches without providing any evidence of allegations. Greear’s speech compared critics to terrorists and Pharisees.

“Southern Baptist Convention President J.D. Greear’s needlessly divisive speech to the Executive Committee meeting, Feb. 22, makes painfully clear that the mission of the Conservative Baptist Network is more important now than ever,” the CBN said in a statement.

The CBN said that all Baptists reject racism and Neo-Confederate views—but demanded specific examples from Greear.

We call on President Greear and all others who share these concerns about racism and neo-confederacy to publicly provide specific examples of churches he or they believe promote racism and neo-confederate teachings. We demand that such churches be removed from our Southern Baptist family,” the CBN statement said. “Vague generalities and nameless accusations are not sufficient in the face of such alleged evil. While we are not aware of instances of churches harboring such wickedness, we know the president of our Convention would not have made a broad and baseless claim—especially one that would paint the SBC in such a negative light before an on-looking world. These churches should be brought under public scrutiny so that light can pierce that darkness and hate can be harbored no more.”

The CBN said that if SBC Elites continue to smear the average Southern Baptist, then severe issues could follow.

“Our network has heard from thousands of Southern Baptist pastors and churches who are tired of condescending attitudes, diatribes, and calls for a supposed unity—calls which ironically have entreated churches that share the Network’s concerns to leave the Convention,” the CBN statement said.

This is verified by the recently released unanimous report of the SBC Executive Committee’s investigation into the damage the Leftward Drift is doing to the SBC through the progressive political preferences of Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) chief Russell Moore.

It is now crystal clear SBC Elites like Russell Moore and J.D. Greear despise the typical Southern Baptist sitting in the pews.

“On Monday night, President Greear told you what he thinks of millions of Southern Baptists,” the CBN statement said. “In June, we will have the opportunity, once again, to decide who we are and where we are headed as a Convention.”

This is important. The average Southern Baptist must make plans to attend. If you don’t, then the SBC Elites who control the Convention will do the same things in Nashville that they did in Birmingham—remember that? Birmingham 2019 was when SBC Elites rammed through the approval of Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality as “Analytical Tools” for use by Southern Baptists.

The only way to stop the progressive SBC Elites is to show up and vote in Nashville. Otherwise, you’ll lose the SBC to Radical progressives.

  1. If you want to see more of Greear’s best quotes check out “Dr Robert A.J. Gagnon: is lgbtq pressure beginning to crack the evangelical house?” On you tube. Greear quotes start at about the 28 minute mark and go for about 12 or 13 minutes. The whole speech is well worth listening to.
