Nick Saban on Texas rumors: ‘I’m too damn old to start over’

Alabama Football Coach Nick Saban responds to questions about Texas Coaching Job

Alabama football coach Nick Saban was asked about the report that sometime last January that someone from Texas spoke to his agent about the University of Texas job currently held by legendary coach Mack Brown.

Could Alabama football coach Nick Saban go to Texas? Saban said he is ‘too damn old’ to start over.

“Nothing went on that I know of,” Saban said in answer to Cecil Hurt’s question asked on the weekly Nick Saban Radio Show. “I don’t know about any of this stuff. I haven’t talked to anybody about that particular situation. They have a coach there that is a good friend of mine that I have a lot of respect for.”

Saban continued his response by pointing out this seems like a regular happening with the media linking him to another job.

“Every year it is something,” Alabama football coach Nick Saban said. “Last year it was the Cleveland Browns. There year before it was somebody else going back to the NFL. Terry and I are very happy here in Tuscaloosa. We love the University of Alabama. We really feel a part of the community here and we have a lot of good friends here.”

Then Saban summed up his present outlook on changing jobs.

“Quite frankly, you know, I am just too damn old to start over someplace else to be honest with you,” Saban said.

So, Alabama fans can thank Johnny Football and Texas A&M for Saban staying at Alabama. After all, it was Manziel who took 10 years off Saban’s life last week.

What do you think? Does Saban’s age play a role? What do you think about the report that Texas spoke to Saban earlier in the year?
