Pro Football Weekly provided this video of the NFL Combine with Alabama football stars Courtney Upshaw, Dont’a Hightower, Dequan Menzie, and Dre Kirkpatrick. The players discuss how Alabama football coaches tracked player production and errors. The video also looks at how intense Alabama practice sessions could be for the players.
“We were very competitive,” Kirkpatrick said. “If you weren’t competitive we would start the practice over.”
And this was one reason players came to Alabama, according to Hightower.
“This is one of the reasons we came to Alabama and the SEC was to compete against some of the best athletes in the country,” Hightower said.
According to PFW, “as many as seven Alabama” players on the 2011 defense could be taken in the NFL draft. The Alabama defense in 2011 was among the best to ever take the field at the Capstone and powered the Crimson Tide to the BCS National Championship.
