Big games like the Game of the Century pitting #1 LSU against #2 Alabama usually come down to execution, according to Alabama Crimson Tide Football Coach Nick Saban.

And Saban wants his players to do their jobs.

“When you look at games like this, most of the time things comes down to how you execute—what kind of fundamentals you play with, how many mental errors you make, how you take care of the ball, how many turnovers you make,” Saban said. “I don’t think any player needs to do anything different or special. They just need to do their job.”

Saban said there isn’t anything special in preparation work for games like this Alabama-LSU game—every time, coaches try to get players to do their best regardless of the opponent.

“Everybody out there probably thinks there is some special formula or some special magic that when you are playing games like this that you go and do different things to get ready for the game, but the most important thing is that you prepare for the game and that your players are focused on playing their best football,” Saban said.

LSU is a great team, and Saban took time to praise the players and head coach Les Miles. Saban praised Miles as a recruiter and coach who develops his players.

“It doesn’t take long to see why they are an undefeated team,” Saban said pointing to LSU’s success in all three phases of the game.

Check back later for more on Saban’s Monday press conference talking about the Alabama-LSU game.
