Here is the official release:

ESPN College GameDay Announces Visit to Tuscaloosa for Penn State Game
ESPN announced Sunday that College GameDay Built by The Home Depot will originate from Tuscaloosa this Saturday for the Alabama-Penn State game. Although the Crimson Tide have made seven appearances on College GameDay over the last two years, this will be GameDay’s first trip to UA since the 2007 game against Georgia. As it was in 2007, the stage will be located next to the Walk of Champions just outside the north entrance of Bryant-Denny Stadium for Saturday morning’s show.

The popular television show expanded to three hours this year and now begins on ESPNU at 8 a.m. (Central) and continues on ESPN from 9-11 a.m. every Saturday. Erin Andrews will anchor several segments of the first hour on ESPNU and contribute reports, interviews and features during the ESPN portion of the two-time Emmy Award-winning program. Chris Fowler hosts the next two hours on ESPN and is joined by analysts Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard. College GameDay is entering its 24th season and the 18th consecutive year of originating from the site of one of the day’s best games or a game with the most compelling storyline.

In addition, College GameDay on the ESPN Radio Newtork will originate from Tuscaloosa on Saturday with live coverage from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Central). Hosted by Ryen Russillo, Trevor Matich and Brad Edwards, the show’s stage will be set up on the Quad on the campus of the University of Alabama.

The game will mark Alabama’s 18th television appearance on ESPN College GameDay and its ninth appearance under head coach Nick Saban. It will be GameDay’s sixth trip to Tuscaloosa overall and the ninth time that Alabama has hosted GameDay (three times in Birmingham). GameDay’s last appearance in Tuscaloosa was Sept. 22, 2007, for UA’s showdown with No. 22 Georgia. Since that time, Alabama has appeared on GameDay seven other times, all away from Bryant-Denny Stadium, posting a 6-1 record in those contests. The nine appearances in the Saban era tie Florida for the most GameDay appearances since the 2007 season. The Crimson Tide appeared four times in 2008 against Clemson, Georgia, LSU and Florida. The Tide then made three appearances during the 2009 season – against Virginia Tech and Florida in Atlanta, and Texas at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.

6 thoughts on “ESPN Gameday coming to Alabama-Penn State game”

  1. I’d rather they just stay home. Herbstreit continued his lunacy during the LSWho game stating that Aubarn could win the SEC West and compete for the title in Atlanta. And that was after Bama and the Barn had played – he knew what both teams looked like in their opening games, and still spouted off this idiocy! He will bring down the collective level of intelligence in the entire state when he is here.

  2. No doubt this team can repeat.Even tho the win last night was not SEC team ,,,this BAMA team is bad to the bone.Best offense in country and do not think any one will be able to stop it.Just look at the running game ,,Lacy,Goode,Trent, and Ingram. Then look at passing game.CASE POINT.Defense will even be better against Penn State. This is going to be another special year so BAMA fans get ready and hold on because this team is going to take off and not look back.Forget about last year and all the Bear days and get behind this team of 2010,this team will be at the top of the Football world at years end with another BCS TITLE..ROLL TIDE AND GOD BLESS.

  3. Someone needs to make a sign and hold it up behind the Gameday stage in the crowd that says, “Herbstreit wears an Auburn thong under his Ohio State footed pajamas.”

  4. Herbie admitted he was a bogue and takes underdogs helter skelter…….fowler and james ripped him a new one.

  5. Yeah, Herbie is a class act in a 1 ring circus. He’s Buckeye through and through and is irritated at all the love Bama is getting. He just fantsizes that everything he says is true. I’m headed to Pennsylvania right now. Gonna have some fun at their expense this week. RTR!

  6. I thought it was funny that when he was explaining his pick he pointed to the mickey mousezahn O as a valid reason. I would be embarrassed if that was my alma mater playing that crap. My gosh awbrum grow a pair line up and play football.
