Apple’s iPad gets rave reviews

F rom AFP: “This beautiful new touch-screen device from Apple has the potential to change portable computing profoundly, and to challenge the primacy of the laptop,” said the Wall Street Journal, calling it a ‘game changer’.” And this also from the AFP story you can read below: The New York Times similarly praised the tablet for being “so fast and light,” and the software “so easy to navigate, that it really does qualify as a new category of gadget.”

How often do the Wall Street Journal and New York Times agree on something? These are good reviews, but I’m still trying to find an excuse to own it. I own the iPhone. I have a laptop, but do I need the iPad? When I asked a friend who is a tech guru, his reply was, “No, you don’t need it. But it looks cool.” He had already ordered his. never buy new-to-the-market tech.

let 2/3 years pass, you get a better product cheaper.

remember the iphone?? 600 bucks from the store. some bought them on ebay for outrageous sums. then there was the app/upgrade fiasco.

i, this past christmas, bought my first iphone. it’s an infinitely better product than the first one.

    (and i’m soooooooooooo addicted!)

You are right. Early adopters get screwed. That is why I didn’t buy an HD DVD or Blu Ray…was waiting on that war to get sorted out. And now that is has been sorted out, I still haven’t bought one.

I’ll probably skip 3D television. I’m not wearing any stupid glasses.

The iPhone is an amazing thing. Trade stocks or currencies, track scores, read emails and do all that while away from my desk.
