AP: SEC rules: Florida, Alabama are 1 and 2

Alabama jumped Texas into second-place behind top-ranked Florida in The Associated Press college football poll, giving the Southeastern Conference the Nos. 1 and 2 teams in the country.

The Crimson Tide moved up one spot after rolling over Mississippi 22-3. Texas, which had been No. 2 all season, slipped a spot after sputtering early in a 38-14 victory against Colorado.

The Gators and Tim Tebow beat LSU 13-3. They have been an overwhelming No. 1 since the preseason, but support for Alabama has steadily grown.

Florida received 50 of 60 first-place votes from the media panel, a season low. The Crimson Tide received 10 first-place votes, up from five last week.

No. 4 Virginia Tech and No. 5 Boise State each moved up one spot. (read the entire report embedded in this post; expect an update shortly)

  1. The only other polls that I could find updated at 1pm was Sagarin – Bama #2 and pushin hell out of Fla. And Massey – Bama #1. Colley Matrix last week had LSWho #1 and Bama #4, so that should change dramatically here shortly. ESPN is late as usual. Don’t want to be #1. Let Fla have the target on their back! RTR!

  2. Yes — let the “target” be printed on Florida’s resume’. I for one don’t want the extra “target” painted on our backs as the season progresses. Everyone knows who the number one team in the nation is — not as many pay attention to the number two and number three strictly based on numerical values. This is my opinion. When i mean “everyone” I mean the average “Joe” who doesn’t follow football die hard like true SEC fans.

RTR!!!!!! have fun at a bowl game in December barner’s — we’ll enjoy ours in January.
