Tide renovations update

Don’t buy into hype of Rebels. Finebaum always has a few great lines, and this is no exception. “But there is a major problem for the Rebels and their quest to take on Florida in the SEC Championship Game. You can’t get to Atlanta from Oxford.” And this one, “Since the ’60s, Ole Miss hasn’t been No. 1 in anything except throwing whiskey bottles.”

As for me, I like Ole Miss, and expect the Rebels to have a good year. I’m not sure yet how good, but I don’t think the Rebels make it to Atlanta. I’m a big Houston Nutt fan, but he does have something to prove this year.

Conference Championship Games Should Cease to Be (Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love That the PAC-10 Has it Mostly Right) from Roll Bama Roll

Why a playoff would suck for the SEC: the NCAA would control the money. Blutarsky found this excellent explanation from an Ivan Maisel chat, “If the NCAA ran a playoff, as they do in every other sport, then the commissioners and their members fear that they would lose control of the money.” He’s right. A playoff is a massive transfer of wealth from the rich to the poor, or put another way, from the SEC to UAB.
