Recruiting Just a note to say I’ll post something about the Junior Day and Alabama’s 2010 recruiting later as this post was long enough.

Tennis teams continue to win
The men’s tennis team won a narrow victory over Indiana this weekend in Bloomington. The 20th ranked Tide defeated the 58th ranked Hoosiers 4-3. The Crimson Tide improved its record to 7-1 on the season.

“Though it was closer than we would have liked, it was extremely valuable for the freshmen to get the experience of coming through in the clutch,” said head coach Billy Pate. “We needed to nurse some minor injuries this week with (Saketh) Myneni and (Michael) Jung, and we knew it would present more of a challenge. However, that’s what we needed and it was good to get through with a win.”

The women’s team remained perfect over the weekend with a wins over Samford and Southern Miss. The women’s team stands at 7-0 on the season. The women take to the road for the first time on Saturday as the Crimson Tide faces the 21st ranked TCU Horned Frogs.

Baseball underway
The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team opened play with three games this weekend against Southeast Missouri State. The Tide’s offense was anemic as Southeast Missouri State won the series three game series 2-1. The Tide won game one by the score of 5-1, lost game 2 by the score of 8-3 and lost the final game of the series 8-4.

“Our offense is a homer now,” Alabama head coach Jim Wells said after the series loss. “We have to have more than that to win. We had a lot of backwards K’s (called third strikes) and you don’t need to give up eight runs, but you’d like to see some semblance of an offense, other than the two home runs by Matthes; I don’t recall much of anything else.”

Racial tensions on Finebaum
