As most attention has shifted from football to basketball, Nick Saban and his Alabama staff have been hard at work on recruiting—next year’s class.

According to Andew Bone, writing for the Tuscaloosa News, Alabama has offered several top prospects including one of the nation’s top offensive linemen, Josh Jenkins. This offer coincides with several other prospects already getting scholarship offers from the Tide. Rivals.com reported Dallas safety Keanon Cooper has received a scholarship offer from Alabama.

So far, Alabama has three verbal commitments for 2008: William Vlachos OL from Mountain Brook, Patrick Crump OL Hoover, and Michael Williams of Pickens County.

The Pickens County junior is 6’6″ and 235lbs. He was named to the Class 2A All-State Defensive team.

As I promised on our discussion boards, I’m working on a permanent page for recruiting updates on the site. I hope to have a comprehensive list of in-state recruits with insightful notes on most of them (thanks to having seen many of them play over the last few high school seasons) sometime this week.

Also, thanks for the response to the championship column. Sometimes you just have to respond to the attacks of others. I plan to write a similar column on Coach Bryant in the coming days. Have a great week.
