Former Congressman, Falkirk Center Executive Director join Conservative Baptist Network Steering Council
A former Congressman and the Executive Director of the Falkirk Center joined the Conservative Baptist Network Steering Council today. Former Congressman Bob McEwen and Liberty University Vice President of Communications and Public Engagement Ryan Helfenbein expand the leadership council to 52 for the CBN. And both issues strong statements deploring the Leftward Drift of the Southern Baptist Convention.
“I saw what so-called ‘social justice’ did to the peoples of Eastern Europe. There is no justice, much less Bible, anywhere in it. It is a slickly marketed cultural Marxism, and it is undermining the foundations of liberty, the rule of law, and of the gospel in profound and devastating ways,” Bob McEwen said. “These ideas are not tame: they are insidious, they fool the unwary, and their price is civilizational in scope. I am very grateful there’s a Conservative Baptist Network to stand for our SBC institutions, for the Gospel, and for the foundations of our freedom.”
The former congressman is Executive Director the Council for National Policy. It is described by the CBN as “prestigious.” And the Left despise the group of conservative leaders. In fact, the infamously bad book the Power Worshippers mentions both the Council for National Policy and McEwen extensively—and deride them as right wing.
In other words, this is someone with impeccable conservative credentials who is widely respected both inside and outside of Washington, DC.
Helfenbein is another strong conservative addition. The Falkirk Center is one of the most important new conservative organizations. Helfenbein is a graduate of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He taught Sunday School for four years with Dr. Al Mohler, and was a pastoral intern for Dr. Kie Bowman. He holds an M.Div. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Helfenbein’s comments focused on the challenges of Neo-Marxism infiltrating the church and preserving the SBC’s focus on the Great Commission.
“The new threat of liberalism challenges our Convention in ways that Criswell, Stanley and Rogers didn’t have to face,” Helfenbein said. “The rise of the Marxist threat both inside and outside the local church means that stronger leadership and more focused accountability is needed to ensure our SBC institutions are prepared and our churches are equipped to face those challenges.
“As a lifelong Southern Baptist, I am immensely grateful for our Convention’s stewardship of the Gospel, and its longstanding commitment to Biblical Inerrancy and the Great Commission. My generation must not lose this on our watch.”

This I the reason I left the Southern Baptist Church. They are leaning to the left, the are too comfortable. Too much nepotism and way too many feminist wanting women to be Pastors (Beth Moore). They should have elders ruling the Church no decans and the congregation with democratic voting with women voting too. A male eldership should be ruling the Churches. And ofcourse lastly they have Freemason members and even Mason Pastors there.
