Hateful Baptist professors attack John MacArthur for holding worship service

You only thought the Secularists were insulting

John MacArthur and many other faithful Christian pastors gathered with their congregations for worship. They gathered under threat of fines and arrest. Of course, that upset some hateful Baptist seminary professors. One professor claimed MacArthur’s gathering is a “manufactured” persecution.

Luke Stamps, a professor at Anderson University said, “Call me when the stand against ‘persecution’ isn’t manufactured and self-congratulatory…Just think of the icons they would make? Men in suits, arm-to-arm in air-conditioned auditoriums. Right there alongside Ignatius and the lions and Bartholomew with his flayed skin.”

When asked specifically who he was talking about, the professor named MacArthur.

“I’m being coy. It’s MacArthur’s church, boasting, ‘welcome to our peaceful protest’ in a full auditorium,” he said.

And yes, Anderson University is supported by the South Carolina Baptist Convention. That means Cooperative Program dollars help pay this slanderer’s salary.

And of course, one Southern Baptist theology professor joined in mocking of Christians.

“I’ve seen that stained glass somewhere before,” said Rhyne Putman of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

To put it clearly: These are disgusting people. Yet, they train the next generation of pastors. This is how the SBC Elites use your tithes and offerings—to platform people like this who attack heroes like John MacArthur.

And Jake Meador of Mere Orthodoxy and Davenant Institute was perhaps slimiest of all.

“’And the sermon was a giant boast about how they’ve got it right, and anyone who doesn’t do it that way aren’t true Christians.’ I think you just summarized the entirety of MacArthur’s ministry.”

With “Christians” like these, who needs heathens?

The smugness is overwhelming.

If you are wondering what set off these hateful “Christians” it was MacArthur’s opening joke. MacArthur welcomed the congregation to the Grace Community Church Peaceful Protest.

Here’s the video:

And of course, these guys are offended. It speaks volumes about who they are and what the support. Contrast their views with SBC conservative leaders like Ronnie Floyd.

They are on the side of Leftist Tyrants banning church meetings.

Are you happy that your tithes and offerings support these disgusting, hateful professors?

If you are upset, then you need to let your state Baptist Convention know and you need to tell the Southern Baptist Convention.

Oh, and join the Conservative Baptist Network.

  1. Why are you being hateful towards the Baptist professor, another Christian?
It’s kind of true. Christians aren’t being persecuted because of public health orders. Churches are allowed to have services online, and with social distancing messures.
John McCarther should be calling for Californians to be staying home until the pandemic is under control so all Christians can meet together.

    1. Amy, the plandemic is fake. The death certificates are fake per the NEW CDC guidelines. Drownings are called Covid deaths??!! Murders are called Covid deaths??!! And the doctor who lies gets cash awards from the Government. If he uses a ventilator on the victim, the doctor/hospital gets even more cash from the Goverment. Some die from the flu every year. That is all this really is.

  2. The ‘pandemic’ was under control on April 22nd. God says to not fail to assemble together. This country was formed on religious liberty and that doesn’t stop with a pandemic. No one seems allowed to judge anymore, unless it’s something they don’t like…

    1. The virus is not under control. The church should be finding alternatives to their church building tradition that is not even biblical and concern themselves with the health of people around them.

    2. The pandemic is still raging in California. How do you figure that Grace Community doesn’t have to apply Romans 13 when the government is only trying to keep people from dying? What kind of shepherd wants his flock to get sick?

Pride comes before a fall. God is not glorified by this. I feel sorry for every Master’s graduate out there. They must be ashamed & torn.

      1. Raging…..what are the percentages of those who have died in this massacre in California? Stop being part of the hysteria!

  3. I think John MacArthur has proven himself. Have the dissenters done anything to show they have earned a voice? Reminds me of an incident where an Iwo Jima vet was being scoffed at for being opinionated, I quietly told the scoffer that Bill A– had left his left leg and some of his right hand on Ima Jima. He had the earned the right to his opinion.

    1. I am a dissenter and I don’t need to prove anything to you. I am a Christian and I have the right to challenge anyone who claims to believe in the word of God, yet does wrong.

      1. …I am a Christian and I have the right to challenge anyone who claims to believe in the word of God, yet does wrong.

…I don’t need to prove anything to you

      1. MacArthur should know better than anybody that the law is written for our good.
        Do you Bible Nancy? LOL

27 The apostles were brought in and made to appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest. 28 “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.”

29 Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings!

        1. But of course that isn’t MacArthur’s situation at all, and that is why those for whom Christian persecution is a serious spiritual matter, not an organizational and political matter, are likely to be unhappy with such claims by people who obviously have no concept of it. The government set down health conditions for meeting, as they do with fire-safety occupancy limits and structural codes. Defying those doesn’t make you Kingdom-minded, let alone a hero. MacArthur’s case has roughly a 0% chance with the Supreme Court if they will even hear it. Titus 3:1-3

    2. The sad part in all of this is that Walmart and the dollar store and all other stores were open just fine. All of a sudden the church is closed. Why? We could hang out for hours in a full Walmart but not go to church. Do you actually believe that the church gathering is the fatal place in all of this. My problem with all of this is how the church accepted this nonsense and actually shut down. When we compare our generation to our Christian brothers who went before us, at the judgement seat of Christ, all we will have is chaff wheat and stubble. While they will have gold and precious stones. Shame will be on this generation of clergymen. Whether you are on the pulpit or sitting in a pew you will not escape the judgement. Thank God for John McCarthy and the few like him.

  4. Matthew 15:1-14

Then some Pharisees and scribes *came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, “Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.” And He answered and said to them, “Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother is to [a]be put to death.’ But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever I have that would help you has been given to God,” he is not to honor his father or his mother[c].’ And by this you invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition. You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you:

‘This people honors Me with their lips,
But their heart is far away from Me.

‘But in vain do they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.’”

After Jesus called the crowd to Him, He said to them, “Hear and understand. It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”

Then the disciples *came and *said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?” But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted. Let them alone; they are blind guides [e]of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”

  5. How is this article not hateful itself? Is it hateful to seek accountability and to correct someone else when they are wrong and refuse to repent? Part of the problem is though that there are leaders who would have access to him and would be able to challenge him personally, but are they doing so?

    1. So, pointing out hateful rhetoric and smug insults against John MacArthur is hateful? Nah. Further, MacArthur isn’t wrong. he is 100% right. If California actually were concerned about COVID-19, it wouldn’t allow riots and protests. It does. What does that tell you about the situation? It tells me that this is a selective attack on Christians and other disfavored groups. Clearly, the state and cities of California have two sets of laws: one for their favored classes and one for everyone else.

      1. Mr Williams is not quite sure what he is arguing himself. As such it’s a lot of hot air, but little rational thought.

See his above statement where he manages to refute himself in three sentences or less:
…I am a Christian and I have the right to challenge anyone who claims to believe in the word of God, yet does wrong.

…I don’t need to prove anything to you

      2. MacArthur is wrong. California doesn’t allow other groups to meet indoors, do they? What about masks? Are you suggesting that every church following the mandate is wrong?

        1. Indoors? How carefully you parse your words.

Are you suggesting that hundreds of “protest” fascists not wearing the masks in close proximity (indoors and outdoors) and exempt from the mandate miraculously do not spread COVID? Or are you suggesting that you are a church hating bigot?

      3. California allows both church assemblies and protests. Some 3,000 people have been arrested in LA County alone for protesting outside the rules for that. Protests have an advantage in being outdoors because it is well-known that dispersion and dilution of viral droplets is far greater outdoors or when subjected to direct ventilation indoors. Honest analysis begins with knowledgeable honesty with the facts. I just expect much less than that, including conspiracy theories, from a large percentage of Christians these days, though. It’s sad.

  6. The virus is not under control. The church should be finding alternatives to their church building tradition that is not even biblical and concern themselves with the health of people around them.

    1. That’s your opinion. I’m actually of a similar opinion. However, many older people can’t meet outside in 100degree plus heat and since the Pandemic is far less deadly than originally thought–people have every right to go back to church if they so wish.

  7. John Macarthur is a hero to whom? The 4,000 people he put at risk? Don’t need to be on lockdown but how ’bout outdoor services and/or having his members adhere to mask wearing/socially distancing if they are in the church? Nope, lets throw caution to the wind by all means. He is very good at self-grandizing himself as he sits poolside at his mansion isn’t he?

  8. “Hateful Baptists…” Isn’t it enough that the world accuses us of hate? Now we have to slander the people we accuse of slander.

It’s the first time I have heard of this website. I’ll be blocking it as it is just as bias and hate mongering as pretty much every news source these days. No wonder we can’t have a civil conversation in the world, we can’t even have one in the Church.

  9. So I’ve been reading Luke’s twitter. By his own words, he’s not a Christian. And he is a professor?
    Luke Stamps

On earth, Christ was a viator (a pilgrim, a wayfarer) and thus could grow in knowledge. But in heaven, Christ is a comprehensor (one who sees God) and thus knows all things in God. That seems right to me.

  10. This is not a religious liberty battle. That is a red herring. The church should be leading in the fight against Covid as part of its mission to love our neighbors. This is a fight not only as citizens of the country but of the Kingdom.

Can the church carry out its mission without holding large indoor meetings that potentially jeopardize it membership and the community? The answer is yes. Many churches are effectively in ministering to their communities and membership through a variety of avenues that do not require large indoor meetings. Covid not only kills people–thankfully a low percentage–but can cause long lasting health effects in a much higher percentage of people who contract the disease. This includes not only the elderly but more and more young adults and children. Not only is this church meeting, but it appears they are not even taking minimal precautions such as social distancing and wearing masks.

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 10:24, “Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.”

Perhaps we need to heed the words of Amos 5 as not all worship is honoring God.
    21 “I hate, I despise your religious festivals;
your assemblies are a stench to me.
22 Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings,
    I will not accept them.
Though you bring choice fellowship offerings,
I will have no regard for them.
23 Away with the noise of your songs!
I will not listen to the music of your harps.”

    1. Thank you Pharisee Tommy, some guy name Jesus would like a word with you about mission of “loving neighbors”.

So dear Pharisee Tommy, tell us more about your tradition of masks. Have they not told you COVID spreads by aerosol particles as well, and cloth masks are useless in this and in fact may become germ breeding and spreading means. No? Strange….

  11. Luke, Rhyne, Ryan, Erin & Jake, may the Lord Jesus Christ bless you for speaking your mind. The Lord Jesus Christ and the laws of our Nation allow you that freedom. Use it. You are correct too. As for The Capstone Report, labeling you with their publication power as “hateful professors” anyone can see what a hypoctrical thing this page is. Immature people label others as hateful, so do not take this rag personally. Look up “Southern Baptist Convention Apostasy” on Google/YouTube and you will see how far the SBC has fallen from Biblical wisdom and truth. I live in the center of the pandemic. All other Christian Churches take every measure to “love thy neighbor” and not spread this virus. But John MacArthur is a hardcore Calvinist and to him, it does not matter. You have to THINK today, as Jesus said there would be Great Deception. This is what He spoke of. God bless you guys for having your opinions, and I pray the Lord will use you all to bring Him Glory.

  12. Luke, Rhyne, Ryan, Erin and Jake… may the Lord Jesus Christ bless you all for having the courage and the right to voice your opinions. Shame on you Capstone for this tabloid rag, calling these people hateful and insulating. Talk about who is the hateful party! That log in your eye must hurt!! I live in the middle of the pandemic, and while other Christian Churches love our neighbors enough to take all precautions to avoid spreding the virus, John MacArthur the hardcore Calvinist puts neighbors at-risk bases on his own views. Google/YouTube “Southern Baptist Convention Apostasy” and you will see the SBC has bigger problems than the Calvinists. Jesus told us the deception would be in His Church. Its here.

    1. Thank you Pope of Socal Island. Would there be any other inerrant denouncements from your grace? Will you be selling any indulgences?

  13. Did anyone ask God his opinion? Judge not that you be not judged is from the Bible. God can heal us? Better be praying to God in Jesus’s name instead of being afraid what man can do.

  14. No doubt Pastor MacArthur knew this day was coming… in 2007, against the waves of the purpose driven, prosperity and consumer Christianity, he published The Truth War: Fighting for Certainty in an Age of Deception:

“Right now, truth is under attack, and much is at stake. Perhaps no one in America is more passionate than John MacArthur about exposing those who are mounting this attack—especially those bringing the assault right into the church.
There is no middle ground—no safe zone for the uncommitted in this war. The battle for truth is raging, and this book reveals:
    The pitfalls of postmodern thinking
Why the Emerging Church Movement is inherently flawed
Past skirmishes in the Truth War and their effect on the Church
The importance of truth and certainty in a postmodern society
How to identify and address the errors and false teachings smuggled into churches

“[The postmodern age] is the age of no truth, an age that has reached a point of deadly fatigue when it comes to facing the truth—a generation that no longer believes truth can be known. Dr. John MacArthur knows better, and he is armed with the courage to confront this age with a bold defense of truth. . . . His argument is compelling, his defense of truth is brilliant, and his concern for the church is evident on every page. The evangelical church desperately needs this book, and it arrives just in time.” —R. Albert Mohler Jr., President, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

  15. Pandemic, what Pandemic?! Where’s the millions of death? The annual flu deaths are included in these supposed covid deaths? Heck even car, motorcycle and other motorists deaths are being added as covid deaths. You’re acting like this is truly a Pandemic, shutting down an economy to save people with underline conditions to create even greater problems financially, economically. Studies recently came out stating that mental illness was already running ranpid, now mental illness is going to become a pandemic.

There’s already a cure for covid, seriously people do your research of doctors that have been using and given treatment for covid at a 100% recovery rate for patients. I know the treatment to pass it it to friends and family who need, if they ever will.

  16. South Austin Presbyterian Church, OPC
in Austin, TX offers 2 Sunday morning services and 1 service on Sunday evening. They are, as always, obediently keeping the Sabbath Holy and have been strictly following the safety guidelines currently in place.
I’ve never enjoyed Church, praying, praising God, hearing His Word, and fellowship, more than now!

  17. I wonder how Dr. MacArthur will react WHEN one (or more) of his congregation contract Covid-19? There’s certainly no social distancing and extremely little mask wearing. I pray for his congregation.

  18. I am ashamed of many Southern Baptist and these Professors.

John MacArthur has defended the Gospel for more than 50 years.

If someone gets Covid-19 while worshipping God in church then that is the Lords will. I, however, believe God protects those Christians who honor him and trust him.

In this particular situation, California government has become tyrannical. They have threatened Pastor John with jail time and $1,000 fine for preaching!?

Like R.C. Sproul said…..”What is wrong with you people!!!!!”

  19. The responses by some Christians prove they do not understand evil and its plan to destroy Jesus’ Church ! The times are prophetic, the world has taken a stand against Jesus and Christians. If we cant see the incremental steps being taken to strip us of our foundational liberties this Country afforded us then we are like the Church Jesus says is “luke warm, and I will spit you out of my mouth”. That time is now! The fear of this virus has crippled people, yet the constant drumbeat of “cases” continues. The deception is massive ! Check the FACTS! Stand firm for TRUTH!

  20. The critical question is if all these restrictions are really necessary or not. The truth is that not everybody dies from the virus, very few people (less than 1%), but it can also cause long term issues.

On the other hand, these restrictions are highly selective. You can endanger others while rioting close to people, but you can not worship God with others. You may work in factories, but attending church is not important (for them). Abortion clinics are more important (again according to the Liberal rulers in this state) than churches. Their law is inconsistent, and they clearly don’t care too much about Christians and even the people who riot and the police officers who put their lives in danger all the time.

Motive and motivations are then clear. Liberals do have double standards too. We have seen this before, the way they treated Kavanaugh for instance, but history will repeat itself.

From a Christian’s perspective, I hope that we all agree that Christ is really the Head of the Church. When there is a contradiction of rules, Christ’s laws should supersede state’s. This is the issue. Some believe that there is a contradiction, others not. But remember that for months I think, MacArthur closed his Church when there was less information about the severity of the virus and
when the motives of California rulers (although he should have known better on the latest) were less clear.

Let’s forget about some other Christian critics for a moment. At least I don’t know them very well as to have an opinion about their motivations. They might have good intentions but clearly are being too critical of MacArthur. This issue is really
between MacArthur and the two main California Liberal leaders, the LA mayor and the CA Governor.

If I was MacArthur, I’d have waited a little more. If a was a member of his congregation, I would voluntarily submit to his spiritual authority. But I am neither one. From a distance, however, I think MacArthur is right. I am sure he didn’t take a decision very lightly. I am sure he consulted with his elders and especially the Holy Spirit.

The bottom line: Every pastor should take his own decision about when obeying human laws. Every decision is different, just like local conditions are different. However, this issue might reach the Supreme Court and cause a legal precedence, and even if you disagree with MacArthur, they might use this ruling against Christians in the future in many different ways.

Thus, the fight is really between MacArthur and Liberal leaders in a case likely to take a presedent in the whole nation. You choose what side to support. It should not be a light decision, but one made with information about our world, knowledge of the Bible, and how to interpret current events on the light of what the Bible teaches.

We are in this fight all together. Let’s be kind with each other, critical, perhaps, but kind. A divided nation can not survive.
