BREAKING: Videos show Southern Baptist leaders justifying riots

Alert Urgent Breaking News

Conservative pastors react: announce withholding CP Dollars due to latest proof of liberal drift

Video of a Southeastern Baptist Theological (SEBTS) panel discussion justifying riots is new evidence of the liberal drift of the Southern Baptist Convention. And conservative pastors are saying the will withhold funding over these new teachings coming from Southern Baptist seminaries.

Pastor Tom Buck posted this shocking quote from the discussion: “I don’t want to demonize and villainize them as if they’re just doing this for nothing.” The comment was from William “Duce” Branch.

Dr. Buck said, “This video has been up for over a week at the official @SEBTS site. I assume @DannyAkin either agrees with this view or believes it is a valid position. The only other option is that he has lost control of what is being taught at his seminary. None of those options are good ones.”

Dr. Buck then highlighted other video evidence showing how the liberal thinking has infected Southern Baptist Church plants managed by the North American Mission Board (NAMB). In one video Dr. Buck highlighted, pastors said rioting makes sense.

Dr. Buck said, “@SEBTS trains the pastors, @NAMB_SBC sends them out to plant churches, & our churches foot the bill.”

In the video posted, another round of “Rioting makes sense. It’s not right, but makes sense,” said Wesley Price of Blueprint Church. “Everyone can get to the point where you’re going to rage out… it’s the voice of those who had their voice taken away.”

The video sparked one SBC pastor to say he would urge his congregation to withhold Cooperative Program funds.

Pastor Lewis Richerson, “@TomBuck shows the connection between the liberal social justice agenda being pushed at @SEBTS and how it ultimately influences local churches. I’ll be formally asking my congregation to withhold @SBCCP $ until a correction is made.”

Pastor L. Christensen, a bi-vocational pastor in Oklahoma said his church was done with this type of liberal drift. He tweeted, “Yep, my little country church is done. Bye bye SBC.”

Maybe that ERLC Study Committee should receive an expanded mandate? Perhaps the liberal teachings coming out of our seminaries should be explored too.

And perhaps SBC Elites should consider this warning: Moving left leads to church decline.

  1. I rejoice to see a remnant of pastors leading their congregations toward Biblical righteousness. May their tribe increase. The words to the congregation at Laodicea come to mind:
    Rev 3:14  And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
Rev 3:15  I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Rev 3:17  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

  2. When I first began reading the evidence of the liberal drift of the SBC several months ago I was certain there were just a few rogue liberals trying to influence and sway wherever they could. It was with deep grief that I slowly came to the realization that the leadership of the SBC not only protected these men, but most certainly were in agreement with them. This is not a case of errant ideology, this is a well planned and orchestrated attack on the convention in particular and Christianity in general. Trusted shepherds intentionally leading the flock astray. So whether our churches leave the convention in protest or stay and come to agreement with what they are teaching, they’ve accomplished their goal either way. They’ve undermined and weakened the strength of the largest denomination. I’m just amazed at how quickly we’ve rolled over and allowed them to triumph.

  3. They clearly condemn the acts themselves. More importantly, since when is an attempt to understand the struggles of our fellow human beings an indication of “liberal drift” by any Christian organization?? If you are on a train steaming to the right, everyone that is standing still will seem to be moving left.
