The junior excelled in his first game as the Tide’s starting running back, stringing together 147 yards on just 13 carries with three touchdowns of 37, 56 and two yards against the 20th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers. His 11.3 yards-per-carry average marked a career high (min. 10 carries) as did his total yardage and touchdowns. The 100-plus yard performance was the sixth of his career with four of those games coming inside domed stadiums.
In his last three outings dating back to last season, Henry has put together 383 yards on 46 carries for an 8.3 yards per carry average and added six rushing touchdowns in those games. He has also been red hot inside domes in his three seasons with the Crimson Tide, collecting 593 yards on 72 carries with eight touchdowns on the ground and adding five receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown.
Henry and his teammates will return to practice this afternoon in preparations for Alabama’s home opener against the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. The Crimson Tide currently owns a 16-game home winning streak, tied for longest in the nation, and is 8-0 under head coach Nick Saban in season openers.
