Mark Ingram to Miss San Jose State Game
The following is a statement from Alabama head coach Nick Saban concerning running back Mark Ingram:

“Mark Ingram sustained a left knee injury late in Monday’s practice. It was a situation where everyone involved thought it would be better to take care of now, so he would not have any issues with it later in the season.

“Mark had an arthroscopic procedure this morning with Dr. Cain and Dr. Andrews and it was successful. We have full confidence in our medical staff and we know the doctors and athletic trainers will do an outstanding job in taking care of Mark and assisting him in his rehab.

“Mark will definitely be out for this week’s game against San Jose State and we will manage this on a week to week basis beyond this week. We will make every decision in the future based on what’s best for Mark and his career as we consult with Dr. Cain and Dr. Andrews on his progress. This is not an injury that will affect Mark’s future ability to make a full recovery in a relatively short time frame.”

  1. Athroscopic knee surgery successfully done this morning by Dr. James Andrews – this will not affect his career. It takes a couple of weeks to fully heal. We have depth – although Ingram doesn’t have the finesse of Richardson – he’s got some power back to him – fear Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy – as Bob Marley sings – “everything’s gonna be alright…”

This should just demonstrate just how hard our practices are – and the depth we have to not go into panic mode. RTR.

  2. The situation is similar to Cody’s procedure in 08. My take is he misses the first three games, two of which are winnable with me in the backfield, then is back by league play. Couldn’t have happened at a better time.

  3. Tissue takes 6 weeks to fully heal on worst case scenario – think they’ll push it until Florida? Why put him in even in week 4 if we are dominating?

  4. Bama is about 8 deep at running back. Not an issue at all. It wil be inreresting to see what Lacy can do. Tha dude looks like Trent Richardson on the juice.

  5. This will hurt for a short while.Lacy is not a proven stud yet ,it takes time and he will need to really turn it on first time he gets ball. You can not replace a Ingram no matter who we have.. ROLLL TIDEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  6. The issue becomes what happens if Trent gets banged up. Then the offense becomes human again, and the defense better grow up quick.

  7. Somebody reported that eddie lacy will get the workload vs sjs – protecting trent for penn st.

    goode ain’t no slouch – 6 ypc…
