Roundtable questions

I was invited to pose a few questions for this week’s installment of the Crimson & Whtie Roundtable. Here they are. Answers coming later in the week from Alabama blogs.

Crimson & White Roundtable
1. Is Alabama on the verge of a quarterback controversy? The backup quarterback is always a fan favorite, but A.J. McCarron posted good stats from the first spring scrimmage. What are the chances he some significant playing time in 2010? Would that be good or bad?

2. Were there any other bits of good or bad news from the scrimmage that fans should consider?

3. Homecoming is October 16 against Ole Miss. Thoughts? Is it ever good to play an SEC squad for homecoming?

4. What does the Menzie injury do to Alabama’s projected depth in the secondary?

5. Happy that Duke won the tournament? Happy the basketball season is finally over?

  2. Cap, I enjoy coming to your site and this is not a cheap shot, but did Scarbo come up with the McCarron question? I mean really lets look at the situation. McElroy is an undefeated starter, returning for his senior year with a national championship ring on his finger and there is a question about his starting spot on a Nick Saban football team? Whoever asked such a question has either been delusionally drunk or asleep for the last 3 years, they certainly not watched the current coaching staff at the University of Alabama. A better QB question would be “Now that McCarron seems to be firmly taking control of the backup spot what happens to a physically talented Star Jackson?

  3. I posed the question because there isn’t a day that goes by that I’m not asked by a fan about A.J. I’m told by lots of fans that A.J. is doing this or that better than the starter. I remember all the bitching and moaning during the championship season when McElroy went through his slump. The QB controversy is always a fan creation, and I expect we’ll hear it in the fall too. Especially if the offense slumps or Alabama loses a game.

Regardless of the hype about an explosive passing game. Since no opponents know what to expect, I’ll guarantee a disappointing offense against SJS with Penn St coming to town the next week. And you won’t see anymore than neccesary against PSU either. The coming out party will be in Fayetteville against Arky and Mallet. RTR!
