Shane: Respect Auburn’s pugnacity

You’ve got to respect Auburn’s pugnacity
By Shane from Centerpoint

Standing in the White House and being acknowledged by the President as the 2009 national champion leaves no doubt that the University of Alabama is once again an elite college football program – a powerhouse. At the rate they are progressing the Crimson Tide already owns the state and stands ready to dominate the entire SEC.

However, the Tide’s cross-state rival Auburn isn’t going down without a fight. They are not intimidated. With most of the SEC seemingly unable to compete with Alabama last year, Auburn took Alabama to the wire in the “Iron Bowl”. In fact, the Tiger’s performance during that contest gained enough respect from the BCS Bowl selection committee to earn them a New Year’s Day game.

Actually, somebody down on the Plains deserves major credit for realizing that Tommy Tuberville’s stale act wouldn’t stand a chance against a program on the verge of dominance like Alabama under Nick Saban.

In fact, Auburn’s made so many right moves lately that it’s almost as if the “master” Pat Dye is running the show again. He, or whoever’s calling the shots, knows Saban would’ve crushed the weak resistance that Tubby’s regime offered.

Nevertheless, the men running Auburn’s program also know that the Crimson Tide is stocked deep with awesome talent. They are also very aware that Saban is constantly adding layers of high-caliber athletes at every position.

On their side of the recruiting front Tiger leaders have been innovative. The best and boldest move made by Auburn officials so far has been the hire of Trooper Taylor and Curtis Luper – two controversial recruiting experts who are currently at the top of their game.

With Saban being one of the best recruiters – and most effective closers – in the history of college football, Auburn is wise enough to know they can’t win a straight fight.

They’ve mostly stayed outside the box when recruiting and have been very successful in doing so. Tiger coaches utilize the press well, stage organized events, and time them carefully to attract the most attention. Some folks call these methods “gimmicks”, but the kids – the ones that matter – seemed to like the show and respect the effort.

If the end result is a top-five ranked signing class, then it is a step in the right direction. This year’s strong finish shows that Auburn leaders realize they must maintain a relentless pace if they want to improve Auburn’s chances against the mighty Red Elephants in the future.

SEC insiders are even claiming that Gene Chizik may be waiting around for Nick Saban to evaluate and select athletes and then sending his guys in behind Nick. People might claim that type of activity is classless. I say it’s good business. Isn’t Nick Saban the best analyst and evaluator in the nation?

The Crimson Tide’s accomplishments since 2008 are certainly amazing. Yet, Gene Chizik and his Auburn football program seem unaffected by the huge spotlight focused on western Alabama.

Clearly, Chiz has his program and fan base fired up. His greatest achievement to date is unifying a group left tattered and fractured by its former commander.

His 8-5 record aside, Chiz hasn’t blinked since he arrived on campus. While others – some of the Auburn “Family” included – doubted him, Chizik has been consistent and solid on all fronts.

In my opinion Auburn is playing the game the way it should be played when facing such a dominant football program like Alabama. They are focused on the internal things that will improve the team — mainly getting better players.

Recently, (now) former Auburn running back Ben Tate proclaimed that he is better than Alabama’s Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram. He isn’t, but he believes that he is. That’s a start.

To win, you’ve got to believe first. If Chizik can get his team to think like Tate thinks, then he’ll stand a hard fighting chance to reap the rewards of the pugnacious puissance he’s instilling in this Auburn program.

  1. You’re such an asshole and despised by so many you could take over for the ‘Scum” of talk radio. Finescum. If it weren’t for you alabama rednecks, he’d have no program left. Now, Auburn folks are gaining a movement to boycott his sponsors because they are so sick of his blatent bias. I fail to understand why a normal person would want to be hated by so many.

  2. Kinda bitter aren’t we Jim? Could it be the fact that The U of A is at the White House being honored by the President of the United States for winning the National Championship, and auburn is a middle-of-the-road SEC West team stuck down on the farm?

  3. CRIMSON HAMMAH - THE CHOSEN ONE

Great article-accurate but au did not earn the outback ..lowder bought it.should have been vt and tn in outback …so the outback got screwed – look for a payback sitution within 2 yrs.

  4. hammah…..what are you talking about? VT and TN??? TN had the same record as Auburn, but Auburn won the head to head game. And TN should have gone to the better bowl? You’re crazy.

  5. CRIMSON HAMMAH - THE CHOSEN ONE

tn was hotter team at the end.but anybody deserved it over. au was 3-5 in sec and had lost 5 of 6

  6. CRIMSON HAMMAH - THE CHOSEN ONE

tn had a 4-4 sec record south carolina as well deserved it over au with a 3-5 sec rec and a much more respected team

  7. CRIMSON HAMMAH - THE CHOSEN ONE

also ga had a 4 4 sec record and au was tied for 9th in the sec but got the title sugar capital one cotton outback – the 6th best slot but the fact is and was made public was lowder made guarantees on ticket sales etc to get the bowl

  8. CRIMSON HAMMAH - THE CHOSEN ONE

CORRECTION = TIED FOR 8TH BUT THE 5TH BEST SLOT ….GA SHOULDA WOULDA COULDA FO SHO

  9. Paul’s Show will do just fine – been hearing this boycott shit for years and it is what it is.
My best advise is to turn it off – If you don’t like it. The thing is that you will not turn it off – because you really like it….. you love what you hate…

  10. I don’t respect Auburn. There was an concerted effort by the Advertiser Starved Media to give Auburn some “uplift” to compensate for the Bama Story. I have stated the obvious for some time. The Sales Department Controls Programming Content. Jox is a case study – T.V. ? Shit. The Birmingham News ? What a fucking joke.
The Fucked Up Fallacy in the Sales Room at all your Media is that we can’t piss off Aubies.
The National Championship must be “diminished” and Auburn’s ” Sudden Rise ” in Recruiting and that Thrilla in Tampa” – shit man – give me a break !
Shane – my advise is to stop spoon feeding the Snarly Bastards – you’re wasting your time.

  11. Wow, Jim. I guess those Allbarn rednecks who frequently call in (I-Man, Incoherent Charles, Illiterate Tammy, Cock Fighter, Bobby, etc.) aren’t helping Wire Road trailer park’s new cause now are they?

And Shane, the officials at Allbarn knew EXACTLY what they were doing. They knew competing with Alabama, in a clean fashion the way Tuberville was doing, wouldn’t cut, so they hired a guy they could pull by the strings in Gene Chizik, and are now paying thousands of dollars (Dakota Mosely) and handing out new Corvettes (Corey Lemonier) just to play catch-up.

There is absolutely no other way a 13-24 coach (who hasn’t been a head coach for longer than 3 years), can come in and simply put dominate SEC coaching veterans like Saban, Miles, Richt, and Spurrier. And given their dirty track record, I wouldn’t be surprised at all, especially seeing these new guys coming to the loveliest little trailer park on Wire Road, posting pics on social networking sites of them suddenly holding up thousands of dollars in cash, and pics of their “brand new sporty cars” which all was given to them immediately after signing with Allbarn.

What other explanation could there be?

  12. MC Hammah…….man Lowder is up to his eyeballs with the Feds. His days of influence are quickly coming to an end. But I’m sure he would be flattered to know their are still a few folks out there who still believe he’s powerful at Auburn.

It’s time for you bammers to find another big, bad boogeyman to besmirch Auburn with.

  13. The BAMMER From St. Clair

YO! AUROX, as long as ole Bobby has money he’ll still have a say about the goings-on in your village. Jimmy Rane, the “Yellafella” himself probably has the most influence. BTW, those stats proved ONE thing; 2009 Florida was better than 2004 Auburn!

  14. ME THINKS INSANE SHANE AND HIS INBRED
CRIMINAL TERDS ARE A JOKE.crimmie hammah
IS THE BIGGEST RETARD ON THIS FORUM. I BET IT WAS A SIGHT IN DC TO SEE THE COMMIE MUSLIM CONGRATS THE LEFTWING COACH AND HIS CHEATERS. DANIEL MOORE WILL HAVE A PAINTING READY FOR ALL YOU COMMIE LOVERS VERY SOON.

  15. When Tommy Tuberville was on top of his game, and was actually TRYING, he could take on ANYBODY Shane. Including Saban. You seem to forget that Tuberville’s head to head record with Saban was 4-3. Tub’s problem was his refusal to shake up his staff and bring in some new blood. I loved Tuberville. But his staff was lazy as shit.

As for the Ben Tate comment, he and Ingram are close. Ingram had a better line to run behind.

I will say this: Tate ran a 4.43 at the combine and Mark Ingram couldn’t run a 4.43 if his life depended on it.

  16. And Bammer from St. Clair, don’t forget who ran your athletic dept for 20 years.

    Bear Jr. Croyle. Castille.

  17. The shadows of Bryant-Denny extend across the entire state. It is grand to watch the aubs squirm. Life is sooooo goooood. We can say anything we want and you card-carrying tampon toters will explode with anger and jealousy. Facts are facts, you gotta win more than the iron bowl to play in the big games, and lately you can’t even do that. Don’t get your hopes up, 2010 IB, Bama 49, aubie 17.

  18. Hey screwy, Mark does run a 4.4 without pads, but when it takes 8 guys keying on you to disrupt your game it doesn’t matter how fast you are. Tate is at the combine hoping to get drafted, Mark won’t need it.

  19. How do you know Big A Red? Have you clocked it? I would bet anything Tate has more North/South speed than Ingram. And I bet you anything Ingram goes to the combine when he comes out after next season. Who wouldn’t?

  20. Nobody is squirming but Bama fans. Why do you think idiots like the one that wrote this column writes about nothing but Auburn? You all are scared shitless because you know that we have a staff down there that is going to work and get good players to come to Auburn. As for next year’s Iron Bowl, you are smoking crack if you think it will be 49-17. LOL

  21. the Crimmie Hammah 22 13 26

absolutely that bama fan is on crack if he thinks au mp will score 17 in t-town …43-0 bama …the hammah is not a retard – just destroys aubies with facts and they can’t stand it – so they go to personal attack….bama 22 sec championships au 5.dispute that.

  22. the Crimmie Hammah 22 13 26

agreed big red is smokin crack if he thinks the cow college will sco 17 on bama in ttown – 49-0.

  23. The BAMMER from St. Clair

YO! “SCREWBAMA” (probably the ONLY screw you ever had), I don’t deny that Paul Bryant Jr. has a lot of influence at UA. As for John Croyle, his plate is VERY FULL with all thats involved with the Big Oak Ranches. Jeremiah Castille is around and I’m sure that his input is valued highly, but the latter two you mentioned hardly control or have controlled the Athletic Dept. at UA.

  24. the Crimmie Hammah 22 13 26

au will buy some players but it will not result – bought players will not work hard

  25. We are coming off of a NC, return the Heisman winner and his buddy, and a jr-soph class that is 26-2, and we’ll start #1. Who cares what Auburn or anybody else is doing! They all have to go thru us, and until we lose, nothing changes.RTR

  26. Yeah I guess you’re right screwy, that big ass NC ring and the Heisman are weighing Mark down too much. You losers are pathetic. I only gave aubie 17 points in the 2010 IB because we’ll play the 2nd and 3rd string after the 1st quarter anyway.

  27. Mr. Castille is one of the finest people I have ever met. John Croyle is an asshole. Paul Jr. is a quiet man who bothers no one.

  28. Bammer from St. Clair do you have to make personal attacks on people? That’s typical. My point was that you Bams love to throw up Lowder when Little Bear has done the same damn thing at Bama.

You are right AUROX it is going to be a LONG 6 months, but this to shall pass.

  29. Crimsonite from the planet Crimson in a galaxy far far away. FormerlyE.G. White

ButtPlay you’re a fucking idiot! Hell, Tates better than Ingram, Hardesty and Brown and Oku are better than Ingram, Scotts better than Ingram, Dixons better than Ingram, McClusters better than Ingram. Even Richarson and Lacy are better than Ingram! And that’s just in the SEC! Shit, I guess Mark should just mail the Stiff Arm Trophy back to New York and apologize for only being the 50th best RB in the country. Must have done all the vote tallying at the Republican headquarters in Florida! Oh wait! He wasn’t 50th! He was about 4th or 5th in total yards, 1st in yards after contact, 1st in 10+ yard gains and 1st in yards per carry. And he’s just a little ol baby sophomore! Opps. Some assholes from our rivals obviously made a mistake. As for 4.43, Bama has LB’s that fast. Don’t tell me Ingrams not. Richarson is, but he’s been clocked under 4.3. Ingram broke more runs than Tate and he never got run down. So he’s fast enough. Besides when you have his cleat marks on your chest it’s damn difficult to catch him. RTR!

  30. I am stunned.
How does a coach who is a flop in the Big 12? turn into a roaring success in the SEC?
Seriously, Gene Chizik was a horseshit coach at ISU. Yet amazingly after he got off the plane in Lee County, he has become The Birmingham News Success story of the Decade.
He has hired the greatest recruiting team known to man. Suddenly recruits who couldnt tell you what State Auburn is in are signing with Auburn. Assistants and Coordinators who are known for their mediocrity and nasty temperment are suddenly transformed into a do or “Dye” family of world beaters.

I am sorry to say this because I know someone will get offended.
It is all a fairy tale… A fantasy.
Trooper, Luper, Duper, Super, Rocker and Grimes are not (nor have they ever been) names that inspire AWE on the recruiting trail.
Malzahn’s offense is dipsy-do trickeroo horseshit that wont surprise anyone this season. (See Bama vs. Florida 2009, if Bama can own Urban meyer’s scheme, Gussy Malzahn wont be much of a problem in year 2)
Ted Roof and Gene Chizik’s Defense was a JOKE this season. Joe Kines has done more WITH LESS TALENT.
Thanks to a very weak schedule auburn will have 5 patsy games again. So that should almost put them in contention for a bowl. But I foresee Auburn losing the majority of their SEC schedule again. And The Birmingham News will still be proclaiming Auburn as the “soon to be” contenders for the National Championship.

Auburn fans. Just give up. You have been pumped so full of lies and misinformation, You are incapable of discerning the real truth anymore. You have WASTED your whole lives thinking that Auburn will finally go to the big dance and win it all, IN VAIN.
It is not going to happen. If the mighty Steve Spurrier cant take a program as well known as South Carolina to the next level, GENE CHIZIK WONT BE ABLE TO TAKE A PROGRAM AS LITTLE KNOWN AS AUGURN (the Ball State of the State of Alabama) TO PROMINENCE.
    Write it down.
Whether you like it or you dont like it… That is just the way it is….

Auburn the Ball state of the state of Alabama

Auburn the Tulane of the state of Alabama.

Auburn the Arkansas state of the state of alabama.

Auburn The Vanderbilt (sans education) of the state of Alabama.

Auburn the Northwestern of the State of Alabama.

  31. Whew! Do you feel better now? That was a load to get off your chest!

Do you need Little Nicky to come over and spoon with you until you go to sleep?

  32. Crimsonite from the planet Crimson in a galaxy far far away. FormerlyE.G. White

Aww, he was just drinkin the kool-aid. Com’on over Barners and we’ll show you what it tastes like. Really, it’s much, much better than ‘Bullshit’! RTR!

  33. we know now why leroy jones/arenas
did not take the full tour while the criminal terds were at the white house. the two boys were caught stealing cigarettes from obammy while in his office. the boys were handcuffed and watched by 2 security men.they later said we were looking for drugs. everyone knows he used to be a drug pusher so we thought he might have some. thugs robbing a thug. just so you know

  34. He was acting like a damn whining faggot. His team won the NC for crying out loud. Don’t worry about Auburn. We’re just the 800 lb Tiger in the room.

  35. Wow! What geniuses.

Mark Ingram can not run a 4.43. You can say what you want but I would bet anything he cannot. Is that saying he is a terrible back. Of course not. He may have broke more big runs than Tate, but he also ran behind the best offensive line in the country. I believe that if you took Tate and stuck him behind Ingram’s line, the result would be about the same.

Yes, almightytmc, nobody inspires like the great and mighty Saban. Chizik was a failure at Iowa State. But he was very successful as the DC at Texas and at Auburn. His Iowa State tenure is a perfect example of what happens when you take a head job just to take a job. Iowa State is a tough place to win. Saban was a failure with the Miami Dolphins. Does that mean he doesn’t know how to coach? No way. But Gene Chizik was a great coach at Texas and Auburn and he didn’t just forget how to coach with Iowa State. Same as Saban. Now, the issue of whether Chizik will be as successful as Saban is a different story. Only time will tell that. I do know this: Chizik isn’t intimidated by him. And it drives you Bammers crazy! Haha!

  36. And as for Trooper and Co. “not inspiring recruits,” they just pulled in a top 5 class, so they must be doing something right.

  37. Ingrams not……Richardson is not either. A unofficial 4.3 is equivalent to a 4.6. That is about where both of them are at. 4.6…

Tate will be a better pro running back than Ingram, Richardson, Coffee, or that other one.

  38. Wow, you barners need a dose of reality.

    1. Jay Jacobs, not Bobby Lowder, got Auburn into the Outback Bowl. His pops was on the Outback Bowl Committee for about 20 years. I think he might still have some pull.

    2. Ben Tate is a good back. The Alabama offensive line is great. The Auburn offensive line is bad. All those things considered, however, do not make Ben Tate a better back than Mark Ingram. Running a hand timed 4.43 40 doesn’t mean anything either. Mark Ingram is better than Tate and if Mark Ingram had RYAN PUGH throwing CHOP BLOCKS on any d-linemen that were giving them fits he probably would’ve ran for about 3,000 yards, so there’s that.

    3. The TROOPAH LOOPAH show is really the only thing that is driving the Auburn program right now. Couple that with Malzahn’s gimmicky offense and you’re bound to get some guys that are afraid of competition at their position to take a chance.

    4. The TROOPAH LOOPAH MALZAHN show, however, is nearing its final act. At the end of the 2010 season, MALZAHN will be hired as a head coach. TROOPAH will also be sought after at the end of 2010 and will most likely take his bag of tricks elsewhere. LOOPAH will most likely hang around but will struggle without the SNAP & CRACKLE to his pop and Auburn will return to recruiting rankings between 15-20 nationally.

  39. The parantheses are my responses.

    1. Jay Jacobs, not Bobby Lowder, got Auburn into the Outback Bowl. His pops was on the Outback Bowl Committee for about 20 years. I think he might still have some pull.

    (Who gives a damn?)

    2. Ben Tate is a good back. The Alabama offensive line is great. The Auburn offensive line is bad. (Not BAD, just not near as good as Bamas) All those things considered, however, do not make Ben Tate a better back than Mark Ingram.

(I don’t recall Ryan Pugh being called for a single chop block all season long. I think both backs are close to equal but I do believe that Tate has more north/south speed than Ingram.)

    3. The TROOPAH LOOPAH show is really the only thing that is driving the Auburn program right now.(And Nick Saban and Kirby Smart is the only thing driving Bama’s program)Couple that with Malzahn’s gimmicky offense and you’re bound to get some guys that are afraid of competition at their position to take a chance. (I’m sorry we don’t run the Bear Bryant up the middle 3 times and punt offense. We will see how gimmicky it is come Iron Bowl time with some players who are actually recruited to run it.)
    4. The TROOPAH LOOPAH MALZAHN show, however, is nearing its final act. At the end of the 2010 season, MALZAHN will be hired as a head coach.(Very possible) TROOPAH will also be sought after at the end of 2010 and will most likely take his bag of tricks elsewhere. (Possible, but not as likely.) LOOPAH will most likely hang around but will struggle without the SNAP & CRACKLE to his pop and Auburn will return to recruiting rankings between 15-20 nationally.

(And Saban could take his $32,000,000 and go after all the delusional idiots in your fanbase are pissed after he goes 8-4 or 9-3 next season.)

  40. Screwed you are dumb as hell. Ingram broke more tackles this season than tate did in his whole career.

  41. INGRAM BETTER THAN BO…TROOPA TAYLOR- LOW LIFE THUY TRASH … 22 SEC CHAMPS TO 5 FOR THE AU MP VERMIN

  42. OR BE EVEN MORE DELIGHTED AT A 10 PEAT – AN UNPRECEDENTED 10 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A ROW…RTR

  43. AU VERMIN WILL NEVER FINISH HIGHER THAN 3RD IN THE SEC WEST…AND WILL HAVE TO CHEAT TO STAY AHEAD OF ARKANSAS

  44. You guys all sound like idiots on both sides of the state, we all know how quickly the dominance can shift, like six years undefeated to two winless iron bowls. Don’t even argue with these bama idiots and buy a ticket for the f’n game, cause it will be a great one for years to come. War eagle

  45. Well. Your Golden Boy looked like a cubit zirconium against AU in the Iron Bowl. And lets be honost, our defense sucked last year.

Crimson Hammah. ….. .. . Are you retarded or something ?

    For real…

    Are you ?

If you really are ( and Im starting to think thats the case) , just let me know so I wont crack on you anymore.

    Seriously…

And enough with the chop block angle. You people have beat that garbage into the ground. Ramsye is gone.

Auburn sucks, their fanbase sucks. After a few lucky breaks the dumb bastards an in a shit induced delusion. They fantasize about somewhere they’ve never been and never will be. Bama will stomp your asses this year. Saban will crucify you for pulling all those stupid ass dipsy doo plays. Just try stopping Ingram again turd breaths. Bama will win the BCS in 2010. Fuck you Barner inbreds. RTR!

  47. no not retarded …no retarded statements…did not say an aubie would like my response to an aubie flamer

  48. LETS BE HONEST – AU PLAYERS SAID THEY HAD BAMA’S OFFENSIVE SIGNALS – ALSO POINTED OUT BY CBS…RAMMING INGRAM UP THE MIDDLE OVER AND OVER AGAIN WAS NOT MCILWAINE’S BEST DAY

  49. Crimsonite from the planet Crimson in a galaxy far far away. FormerlyE.G. White

Oh and by the way asswipes. It’s now official. The President confirmed we have 13 National Championships. LMFAO! So STFU. RTR!

  50. 2009 Bama won the NC and you already know the rest of the story. Get off of Auburn 04. They should of beaten USC when they had the chance. This is what happens when you get a great coach at the right program. All you really have is 1 team to compare us too. Those two o’s look like Sabans balls don’t they! Anyway, until you beat us, it doesn’t matter! 2 in a row, current NC, returning Heisman winner, and pre-season #1, RTR BITCHE$!

  51. He also said he would close Quantonimo, get our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, lower taxes on the working man, and stop global warming ( myth ) …..Any more enlightening comments egg ?

  52. “Should have been USC when you had a chance.”

AUBURN NEVER HAD A CHANCE. THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF DEBATE.

  53. Guantanimo, dumbass. Enlightening enough?

I remember USC hangin bout fitty on the tiggers one season before. Have fun being an “almost, an also ran, middle of the road never was aubie” sounds like fun.

  54. Gitmo ..Quantanimo. …Geronimo…..Whatever there spelling cop. Point is…..Who cares….But it is fitting. The most unaccomplished Pres. awarding one of the most unaccomplished BCS teams ever..With the most unaacomplished Heisman winner ever.

I change my stance. Its appropriate.

  55. It’s clear that you don’t know anything about accomplishment auburn fan.

14-0, 6 all-Americans, Heisman winner, these things are called accomplishments.

Maybe you can try to learn to spell on a 3rd grade level, that would be an accomplishment.

  56. Where did John Heisman coach at ? Your “accomplishment” was a result of Auburn.

Go figure how you are claiming to be “accomplished” . and your rival isnt, when youre “accomplishment” is named after your rivals coach…..

See how stupid you sound ?

    But your spelling was adequate.

I can always tell when Im whipping someones ass.

    They pull the spelling card.

  57. AGREED NO ROOM FOR SPELLING CARDS OR GRAMMAR CARDS…THIS IS INTERNET SLAPDOWN LOSERS RAMBLING TO OTHER LOSERS

  58. You couldn’t whip cream asshole. The trophy would’ve been named whether he coached there or not. The accomplishment is not a “result” of auburn, just a relation.

Thanks for agreeing with ballsack HAMMAH. I was only pointing out the obvious aubie idiots on the site, spelling really had nothing to do with it, misspelled intentionally is different than ballsack’s sincere ignorance.

  59. Auburn had the chance to beat USC in 02 and 03, and if they would have, maybe could have positioned themselves better for the 04 run. They choked and the rest is history.

  60. If I was an Aubie, I would be excited about thus season. They have a great schedule and should win at least 9 games. I still don’t think the can beat Bama yet, but 1 more recruiting class like this one and the Iron Bowl will be deciding the west for a while.

  61. DO DRINK THE AU KOOK AID AU LOST LAST 6 OF 7 – NO REASON TO GET EXCITED ..BUT SHOULD BE DREADING IT…TEAMS HAVE FIGGERED OUT THE HIGH SCHOOL TRICK PLAY OFFENSE. SHOULD WIN 3 GAMES MAX IN SEC

  62. elephant, the comparison of the 02 and 03 losses to USC are ridiculous. Those are totally different seasons. You think Bama could have ever reached a #1 ranking during the 08 season if their 07 season would have been taken into consideration?? Should we assume that La-Mo would have beaten Bama in 08 just because they did it in 07??

LSU waxed Auburn 31-7 in 03. UGA stomped Auburn 26-7 in 03. That didn’t stop AU from beating both of them in 04.

  63. Hammah agrees with anyone that cant spell or use proper grammer.

He makes me look like Hemmingway.

  64. I was looking at some early 2010 rankings and picks last night and came across an interesting article about going back to back. The last team to do it was Nebraska 94,95, unless you count USC in 03(AP) and 04. They lost to Texas in 05.Miami almost did it too, but lost to Ohio ST. Florida ran the regular season gauntlet, but lost to a hungry Bama team. I think Saban will win another one at Bama, but some of those teams I mentioned had Heisman winners and all Americans and they couldn’t do it. I do think we can do it, because I don’t think anybody will beat this team at home. That leaves Arkansas and LSU. LSU will be our toughest game, outside the SECCG. I really don’t see a team in the Sec right now that can beat us. If there is a coach out there who can keep his team focused enough and playing consistant enough to get back to The Game, its Saban. The odds are against it because its hard enough to do one time, much less back to back, but I can’t wait to see what happens. By the way, the guy in that article picked Ohio St to beat us in the BCSCG.

  65. Starters, yes but plenty of experience. Hightower, Nico Johnson, Kerry Murphy, BJ scott, Chapman, Lester, Rod Woodson, Kirkpatrick. We have players. Our D will be tops in the SEC again. I’m more worried about kicker. Oh yeah Jarrell Harris…..

  66. Dude we have so many players, I’ve forgotten some of them. We also redshirted a bunch last year. Our Defense will be awesome. Our offense is going to be better, so we can take it slow on Defense right now until it comes togethet. If we played Penn St tommorrow, who would win?

  67. When our defense takes the feild for the first time, we’ll have 11 4 or 5 star recruits out there.

  68. U STUPID IGNORANT SLUT – AU GOT SHUTOUT 23 – 0 …IT WAS NOT JUST A MATTER OF PLAYING THEM AND PLUS IN ALL EQUAL SITUATION PREVIOUS SHUTOUT IS A GREAT TIE BREAKER …AND YES IF 09 ENDS BAMA UTAH AND TEXAS UNDEFEATED…TEX PLAYS UTAH FOR THE TITLE

  69. YES AND WE RELOAD WITH EVEN BETTAH PLAYAHS
    …THIS IS ALABAMA FOOTBALL
…WHY DO I HAVE TO EXPLAIN SOMETHING I SHOULDN’T HAVE TO EXPLAIN?

  70. IIIIIIIIINNNNNNNN AAAAAAAAAAAAA TTTTTTIIIIIEEEE BBBBBRRREEEAAAAKKK SSSSIIITTTTTUUUUUAAAATTTTTIIIIIOOOONNNN….OK GETS THE NOD OVER AU – AU GOT SHUTOUT 23-0 THE YR BEFORE AND THUS AU IS ELIMINATED FROM TITLE CONTENTION

  71. I just watched Bluechips, the movie with Shaq. Made me think of Chizik. Cheaters never win and always get caught.

  72. I’ve noticed a trend….whenever one rival school becomes successful, the other school starts screaming cheating!

I guess will find out eventually whose really guilty.

  73. A few things:
1.Shane, there is no “BCS Bowl Selection Committee”. Each Bowl has their own decisions to mkake as to the teams that will be playing. Once again, this guy Shane shows his complete ignorance.

2 While I congratulate AU on playing in a good bowl game, let’s not get carried away on the whole “New Year’s Bowl” thing anymore. There was a time when that meant you were one of the best programs in the country that year. Not anymore.Even the traditional January 1st Bowls don’t even play on January 1st anymore. And some even lower tier bowls play AFTER January 1st.

3.The name of the game is The Iron Bowl, not the “Iron Bowl”. Why does this guy Shane insist on using quotation marks on everything he writes?

  74. Again, Elephant Stomp, you are comparing results from one year to the next. Like someone stated earlier, LSU and Georgia both beat Auburn badly in 03, but Auburn had no problem with them in 04. It varies from season to season. Using your logic, Alabama should have been beat by Florida in 2009 because Florida kicked their ass in 2008. It isn’t good logic. Seasons vary from season to season and you are the one that is ignorant if you think that what happens in one season has any affect on another. La Monroe beat Bama in 07. Do you think they would have beat Bama in 08? It is piss poor logic from a typical Bam.

  75. Oh and while the 03 USC-Auburn game was a blowout, the 02 game in California was much closer. Auburn lead going into the 4th quarter but we sat on it and Mike Williams scored the go-ahead TD for USC to win 23-17.

As for Shane and quotations, it is because he is a dumbass. Nothi

  76. Ben Tate is a jealous loser. 40-times are hardly the be-all measurement of an RB, and only an idiot thinks otherwise.
