Alabama football injury update: Julio Jones and Roy Upchurch

Alabama Crimson Tide football coach Nick Saban has seen “significant improvement” for Julio Jones and Roy Upchurch. Both players suffered injuries during last week’s game; Jones suffered a bruised knee and Upchurch suffered a high-ankle sprain.

While there have been improvements, Saban said the players remain “day-to-day.”

“I really don’t know if those improvements will be enough for them to play in this particular game,” Alabama football coach Nick Saban said during the SEC’s weekly teleconference. “We would probably know more about that after practice tomorrow (Thursday).”

Both are working at practice, but in a limited fashion. Saban said Alabama Crimson Tide receiver Julio Jones and Upchurch are doing things like running during practice sessions. Saban said the big thing to watch is soreness and other lingering problems the day after practice.

No other major news from the teleconference.
