For our AU readers: Gabe Gross

“It’s been a blessed year all the way around,” said Gross, who was traded to the Rays from the Milwaukee Brewers in April – just in time for the team’s transforming season that took them from worst in 2007 to first in the American League East Division. Here’s the complete story from the Tampa Tribune:

  1. This is very surprising news! I had no idea he went to school and lives in Auburn.

I haven’t had the opportunity to meet him yet (being a die hard Rays fan), but after reading the article, I’m going to make time to do so if he’s still with us next season.

They’re 3-1 against Boston in the ALCS, and if the win tonight, they’re World Series Bound!

    GO RAYS!

  2. Nice to hear there are still people of his stature alive in sports today.

Even if he is a Barnie, I’ve still gotta give credit where credit is due and wish him all the best in the rest of the playoffs.

  3. Gabe Gross is a great guy. I know his uncle and they are fantastic people. He did the wise thing after his Jr. year at the barn and gave up football to work on baseball. It certainly has paid off. Of course the Tubbs wasn’t too high on him and was going to throw him under the bus like Chris Todd. Glad you made the right decision Gabe.
