It is that other season—recruiting season

While Tommy Tuberville wasted time hunting ducks, Nick Saban spent time recruiting.

Of course Auburn apologists like to point out Tuberville has good classes. Of course the secret to Tuberville’s good classes are his innate ability to sign numerous players who never qualify. At the present time, one of Tuberville’s best commitments for this class is RB Enrique Davis; Davis, who is in prep school, was part of Auburn’s 30 signees from last year. Nothing like getting to count a player to boost your recruiting rankings for two seasons—the only problem with that, it doesn’t help so much on the field.

Alabama had a busy recruiting weekend with hosting about 17 recruits, including the most desired prospect in the state in standout Julio Jones.

Visiting UA were: Undra Billingsley, Devonta Bolton, Terrence Cody, Lavar Edwards, Alex Ford, Jerell Harris, Star Jackson, Jones, Chris Jackson, Chris Jordan, Robert Lester, Brandon Lewis, Tyler Love, Burton Scott, Corey Smith, Chris Tolliver, and Robert Quinn,

News flash: The recruits all loved their visit. “It was amazing,” said one. “Alabama is in the lead now,” quoth another.

All joking aside, Alabama did nab Brentwood’s Chris Jordan, according to the Knoxville News-Sentinel. Jordan is the fifth ranked player in Tennessee.

Why did Jordan pick Alabama?

“The thing about Alabama that makes it special is the close bond the players and coaches share. It’s like one big family and Alabama is the only place I felt that,” Jordan said.

For those not already sick of hearing about Tim Tebow, here’s another story on the Florida quarterback. Yes, him winning was a joke, but we always knew that about the Heisman.
