Florida pres to pitch playoff plan

The University of Florida’s president is expected to pitch a playoff plan at Friday’s SEC meetings in Destin, Florida, the Press-Register reported. The playoff plan’s key point is that revenue would be distributed equally among all 119 Division-1 schools, unlike the present BCS system where the six major conferences get the most amount of money.

Good luck selling that plan!

Without question a playoff would generate new money for the system; however, it is doubtful the major conferences would consider giving up the lion’s share of the revenue. With football becoming and even bigger business every year, revenue conscious administrators would oppose this type of plan.

Without bribing the minor division 1 presidents with more money, no type of playoff system has a chance at passing—that’s the Catch-22 of modern college football.
