Voting for Joe Biden is voting for murder. Why do so many Evangelical Elites not understand that? Or, maybe they do understand it.
“Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour.” I John 2:18
A new trend in Christian circles is to claim that voting for Democrats is acceptable for Christians. In fact, last night on Twitter, I was rebuked for making the case that Christians who support and vote Democrat deserve excommunication.
I was told that abortion is wrong, but that voting Democrat or Republican is a political decision not covered by Scripture. This is stunning and troubling. As I contend in my review of David Platt’s new book on Christians and voting, that if God has a standard, then we Christians must conform to that standard. Thus, if something is sinful, then we must avoid it. And voting Democrat is sinful. Here’s why.
My argument can be summarized as follows:
1. It is sinful to aid & abet murder.
2. To vote for Biden aids & abets murder.
3. Therefore, it is sinful to vote Biden.
Point one seems indisputable. So, I expect the only objection would be to point 2. Let’s consider a few simple facts.
According to LifeNews, “The Democratic Party platform supports abortions without limits and calls for forcing taxpayers to pay for them.” And, CNBC reported, “Joe Biden said on Thursday that he supports the repeal of the Hyde Amendment, which bars federal funding for most abortions, after facing criticism this week for his support for the measure.”
So, Democrats want abortion to be unlimited and paid for by you—the American taxpayer.
That is pretty obviously, supporting and spreading abortion. Further, it is a clear and expected outcome of voting for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. They will appoint judges radically dedicated to Roe and eliminate the Hyde Amendment.
How are those things not evil? And if they are evil, how can any Christian vote for it without participating in that evil?
According to Roman Catholics, to obtain or even promote abortion results in a latae sententiae excommunication. To vote with intention of spreading abortion results in the same.
This is a pretty good general rule that evangelicals should consider: to murder someone, aid in that murder or vote to support murder results in automatic excommunication from the church.
And to vote for Joe Biden is to vote to promote and spread murder.
This is undeniably true. So, why won’t evangelical elites condemn it?
Where are the SBC Elites talking about the importance of church discipline?
Where are the Marks of a Healthy Church writers? They were once fanatical for church discipline. Why is voting to keep murder legal not a huge deal for them?
Where are those calling for excommunication for racism? Why are many of them silent about this great issue?
Why must we defer to how people feel instead of what God objectively commands?
We shouldn’t.
If our Evangelical Elites refuse to condemn those who vote for baby murder and decline to hold church members accountable when they sinfully promote, spread and support abortion, they have disqualified themselves from church leadership.
The Bible is clear: murder is wrong. The Church since its earliest times recognized abortion to be sin. This can be seen as early as the Didache.
Also, there is a clear choice between Democrats and Republicans.
According to Wayne Grudem, “On the question of laws to regulate abortion, Republicans and Democrats have strayed further and further apart, and the biblical values are clearly on the side of the Republican position on this issue.”[1]
So, what’s changed? Not the Bible, but Evangelical Elites.
Why are so many Big Eva Elites willing to justify someone voting for abortion by voting Joe Biden?
Because many are trying to do in 2020 what Russell Moore did in 2016—attempting to suppress Christian voter turnout for Pro-Life candidates.
You’ve got Kyle J. Howard on Twitter making crazy arguments like this:
You even have Evangelical Elites making arguments like this shared by Phil Vischer: “There may be good reasons to vote for a Republican candidate for president—but overturning Roe or thinking the president will reduce abortions isn’t one of them. Likewise, there are things about the Democratic Party platform I still strongly disagree with including abortion—but the data clearly shows that voting a Democrat into the White House DOES NOT increase abortions.”
This is a deceptive argument. The issue is about making abortion illegal and not minor policy adjustments. It takes years and years to change the Supreme Court–and thanks to Bill Clinton and Barak Obama, we’ve faced a very long ordeal. Yet, Donald Trump has the opportunity with Amy Coney Barrett to cement a pro-life majority.
And, I’ve been told that we can be against abortion based on the Bible but that we can’t divide over political opinions like how to vote: “I will never vote for a pro-choice candidate personally, but I hope a political opinion (which is what it is if you still condemn abortion) wouldn’t separate me from fellowship with other believers.”
Being against abortion is both a moral and political opinion. And, if it is the biblical position, then we should divide from those who refuse to conform to Christ.
Murder pleases the Devil. It is his raison d’être. He wants to destroy and murder. Anyone trying to help pro-abortion candidates is an antichrist, a false teacher, and is doing the work of the Devil.
It is justifying evil.
These are the works of antichrists.
It is time to remember the words of Isaiah, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”

Commentary by Rev. Tom Newton: Lesser of two evils in our Politician choices.
As the 2020 election draws near, we are faced again with the lesser of two evils choice. I would express this choice before us on one hand as the principles of capitalism, and on the other the principles of socialism/communism. You may object to the shape dichotomy between the choices I presented, and even dislike the grouping socialism with communism together, but having lived in a socialist country for over eighteen years, I believe that the stakes are so high that a lesser distinction would undermine the seriousness of the choices before us.
Our choices: First of all – the candidate on the Right/Conservative/Capitalist party is President Donald Trump, and then the candidate for the Left/Liberal/Socialist party is Mr. Joe Biden. If just the principles or titles of their parties only mattered for me, as the only determining factor, President Trump would be a sure win, but choosing between two evils is not as easy as that. It never is!
Consider the panorama of beliefs for our President and the Republican Party (RNC): Only a couple to present – 1. Pro-life, but Pro-homosexual/LGTB divisity and gay marriage/adoption. 2. Pro-freedom of religion, but Pro-Roman Catholic. Let me address each of these in order, and than come to a conclusion.
1. Pro-life, but Pro-homosexual/LGTB diversity, and gay marriage/adoption. Right here many Bible/believing conservative Evangelicals part ways with President Trump and the RNC, and I think for good reason. Having lived and pastored a local Baptist church in Canada for eighteen years, I faced many sociological issues; one that came up early in my ministry was same sex marriage and the acceptance of/total abandonment to fluid gender confusion. Same Sex marriage became a national/federal right and the advancement of gender confusion was fast tracked, and the sodomite life style was shoved down our throats on every hand. For example, in the province I lived in, the then Premier worked out a new school curriculum for all public schools. It was a curriculum that fully embraced the LGTB/same sex agenda – right out of the pit of Hell via a depraved heart. The main author and contributor of this curriculum was later convicted of child molestation and now, as far as I know, is still serving time in prison.
So, here goes: pro-life or pro-homosexual agenda? Which is it? Which is the lesser of two evils? Abortion or the sodomite/LGTB/gender confusion issue? Both are serious attacks on the family! I would say the second – the sodomite/LGTB/gender confusion is the worse of two evils. So decide? Stop for a minute! Yes, let us not forget that the Liberal/Left/Socialist is mainly pro-abortion, pro-sodomite/LGTB/gender confusion issue, and anti-family. I will let you think on this one for awhile.
2. Pro-freedom of religion, but Pro-Roman Catholic. I would say that all of us like the principles of freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom to assemble that our country has to offer to all. None of us would want a government sanctioned and endorsed state religion to rule over our consciences in the matter of our worshipping God in Spirit and in Truth. But give Roman Catholicism a chance, and Rome would do just that – rule the world and force Catholicism on all! Roman Catholicism is a far worse threat than Islam. So, we support freedom of religion anyway, and hope the power of the Gospel with God’s blessing will save any stripe of religious person that comes within the sound of the Gospel message. God is able! Here is where we need to look at the joint co-operation between President Trump and Rome. Most or all of President Trump’s Evangelical advisors are either pro-Catholic, or are, for now, tolerating Roman Catholicism. Most Roman Catholics are pro-life, conservative in many areas of life; they support the rule of law and even the Constitution. Here is where the lesser of two evils come in to play. How so?
I want you to remember the last moments of the RNC 2020 conference that just was held. What was the last song that was sung while all stood and listened? An invocation for the prayers and help of the Roman Catholic Queen of Heaven – the virgin Mary! Rome was delighted! Yes, Mr. Biden is a Roman Catholic, and at last report he is out of fellowship with his church too. So does working with Roman Catholicism bother you? Lesser of two evils? You might say “for the sake of the Republic compromises must be made. Don’t they?”
Let us now consider the appointment of Judge Barrett to the Supreme Court by our President. The confirmation hearings are scheduled to begin October 12th. She is a conservative working mother of seven. She is married and is a good Roman Catholic. Is there a problem with the President’s choice? If Judge Barrett is confirmed and added to the Supreme Court, she could be the deciding vote to abolish abortion once and for all. If Mr. Joe Biden gets in as president, he says he will stack the Supreme Court Liberal, abolish the Electoral College, and scrap the Constitution. Lesser of two evils? Elect Biden and destroy our country pretty quickly, I would say. Re-elect the President and destroy our country eventually. I believe that Rome is part of the apostate Christendom that will give her allegiance to the coming Antichrist. All part of the New World Order that God is allowing to come into being in order to judge the world of its wickedness and unbelief. Lesser of two evils – now or then, but such will happen, even as God has decreed it. Guaranteed!
A final word of comparison – lesser of two evils. Remember King Herod and Pilate. Both reprobates who hated each other extremely! But as they examine the Lord Jesus Christ at His trial and execution, King Herod and Pilate became friends—for a moment, that is. They became partners in the worse crime ever – Luke 23:12 “And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves”. How do we apply this historical event to what I have written above? For the sake of a common good and goal, Herod and Pilate was willing to work together to eliminate a common threat. Is that what we are doing by voting for President Trump? 1. Pro-life, but Pro-homosexual/LGTB divisity and gay marriage/adoption. 2. Pro-freedom of religion, but Pro-Roman Catholic. Lesser of two evils – willing to work together to eliminate a common threat.
But the alternative is worse! Is it? Once God told Jeremiah to tell the people of Israel not to resist being exported off to Babylon, but to go – build houses, plant vineyards, raise a family; even seek the peace of Babylon. Of course, Jeremiah was considered a turncoat and traitor, but he spoke what God gave him to say and do. Isn’t a non-vote for President Trump a sure vote for Mr. Biden? Lesser of two evils – evil now, or evil later. Is there a third option? Yes, there is – God-sent revival! In light of our national sins, which are too numerous to count, too enormous to imagine, to wicked for God just to overlook. Yes, our sins have reached the Heavens, and now the Judge of all the earth shall do right. Oh God, in wrath remember mercy! Who will lead in heart-felt, Holy Spirit repentance? Who will lead us in breaking off our sins with righteousness?
Psalm 9:16-21 “The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah. The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall not alway be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever. Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in thy sight. Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.
May the good Lord grant us wisdom and courage in these days to do what is right, not just the lesser of two evils. No one can be the Lord of your conscience but the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Be in much prayer, and search the Scriptures to see if these things be so.
In Christ’s love and goodness,
Rev. Thomas J. Newton
