Auburn’s Elijah Daniel arrested for theft, burglary

  • by

Incredibly, AL.com is reporting that rising Auburn defensive end Elijah Daniel was arrested and booked Wednesday on several theft-related and burglary-related charges.

Daniel was booked on four theft of property charges ranging from first to third degree, including two third-degree charges, and four burglary charges ranging from second to third degree. His bond totals $24,000, according to online records.

Two of the theft charges and one burglary charge are classified as felonies.

Daniel was rated a four-star prospect out of high school by 247Sports and was considered one of the nation’s top 10 defensive ends by most recruiting services. He co-led the team with 17 QB hurries in 2014 and 15 tackles, including a sack.

No word as to why this isn’t breaking news across the country (as it is for any player arrested at Alabama), other than the fact that nationally, Auburn just doesn’t matter.

But the loss will definitely deal a blow to an already lacking Auburn defense that at times looked completely inept in 2014. With limited pieces to an already incomplete puzzle, this multiple felony count arrest isn’t helping.

  2. Maybe if he had raised his voice to a witness while wearing crimson and white he would be on the front page of every sports site nationwide.

But it’s Auburn, so nobody really cares.
