Alabama Crimson Tide football coach Nick Saban addressed the Monday evening attempted robbery and shooting of Alabama football player Brandon Deaderick. The Alabama football player was shot about 10 p.m., and was transported to the hospital. According to Saban’s statement released Tuesday morning, it is expected the player will be released from the hospital sometime today.

“We feel very fortunate that Brandon is doing well and that this is not a more serious situation,” Saban said. “We are hopeful that his condition will continue to improve as we expect him to be released from the hospital later in the day today. Our concern at this time is for Brandon’s continued recovery as our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family, not about when he will return to football.”

According to the AP, “The shooting happened Monday night at an apartment complex. Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steve Anderson told the Tuscaloosa News the player suffered a gunshot wound to the forearm. Anderson says it’s not a life-threatening injury.DCH Hospital spokesman Brad Fisher told the Mobile Press-Register that Deaderick is in good condition and was admitted for the night to a hospital room.”

  1. I would bet that he’ll patch it up, put on a heavy bandage or light cast, and play Saturday. He’s a star and stars are tough! Good luck Brandon. RTR!

  2. Egg. It depends. A bullet can tear up a lot of muscle, cartilidge, and tendon. If it was square in his foremarm. A hollow point can just take a half inch or better plug out of you, that never grows back. Its possible he could be done for the year. Maybe it just grazed him.

Believe it or not, I hope they can stick a cast on it and let him play. Its just a shame when stuff like this happens.

  3. Yea look like he has one of those dog training deals on and PLAY BALL young man! I hope he makes it back 🙂
