Nick Saban dominates on the recruiting trail for a host of reasons (he explained some of them last year and you can read how he evaluates players here), but one big reason is his sincerity.

Sincerity is what has Alabama surging in the mind of Lowndes DB Greg Reid. Reid is rated a five-star player by Rivals.com. According to Rivals, he is one of the top cover corners in this class. (See video embedded below.)

Reid told the AJC, “He wasn’t like some of these other coaches, making all these promises and promises … [Saban] looked me in the eyes and said ‘I can’t really say that you’re going to come in here and start. You’ve got to come here and be ready to compete because the best man plays.’ That’s what I wanted to hear. [Saban] is a straight-up guy. That’s the kind of coach I like.”

Rival coaches try to paint Saban as a deceitful person who tells players anything to get them on campus, but such negative recruiting tactics won’t work when Saban tells the player in private the same thing he tells the press in public.

Saban always says recruits can come in and play, but only if they come in with the right work ethic and grasp the technical issues of the Alabama system (offensive and defensive respectively.)

Alabama might not land Reid on National Signing Day, but Alabama has a chance because of Nick Saban’s sincerity.

Who would’ve guessed that was one of Saban’s secret weapons on the recruiting trail?

  1. I’m telling you, the man is not who the media tries to paint him into being. People with integrity see through people without it, and largely—with very few exceptions—the media has an agenda and no integrity. Saban’s problem is he doesn’t deal with his disgust very well when it comes to them. But he is anything if sincere and filled with integrity, which wins on the recruiting trail. Good article Cap.

  2. Integrity ………?????????????

    Ask Miami about his “integrity”……

“Im dont know how many times I have to keep telling you people , Im not going to be the coach at Alabama”……..

He wreaks of Integrity alright. WOWW!!!!

  3. That is pretty funny tmc1. Even to an Auburn guy.

  4. Ballplay, ask people at Ol Miss about Tubs integrity “the only way I am leaving here is in a pine box” that goes both ways, it is also old, Next. . . .

  5. Pat Dye, Bobby Lowder and Jay Jacobs just reek with integrity. I am afraid Alabama will never be able to match Auburn in integrity in college football. I think they should just fire the whole bunch at Bama and model their program after the fine example down in Opelika. Bama should be ashamed for cheating Auburn out of their rightful place in the state. If it wasn’t for Bama and the REC Auburn would be the premier program in the nation. Thanks Omni and Julio for showing me the light…..

  6. Look dooshbags, Im not the one writing an article on how Tubbs can win recruiting battles because of his freekin “integrity” aight ? But Tubbervlle had more in his left testicle than The Saban had in his entire body. For what its worth.

Wait a minute………..Thats not a fair comparison, seeing as The Saban is shorter than Tubbs left testicle.

  7. Ballplay, you are not the one writing the article but you are asking us to ask cokeheads in Miami about integrity, ppuuulease. . . it must be rough to get embarassed 36-0 by a coach shorter than tt’s testicle. You know I’m messing with you.

  8. hey bummerbrando take that tight ass cowboy hat off slap that lil bitch next to you telling you how to spell and shut the fuk up! You cant see any light until someone removes your head from your ass.
until 36-0 it was 7 and 0 remember that LOSER? and your buddy bummerman ought to… If ya think Sabans gonna pull off another MIRACLE season (and you do) You probably think you have a chance with a woman thats not made of plastic or on the INTERNET! SISSY BITCH! I mean seriously CF is a business and when it comes to that dollar . There is NO integrity! I would leave my job(I GOT GRAVY BABY) for more money… and if you dont, your either made of money or stupid( i ll pick the latter )

    WPB!!!

  9. Omni, Thanks for enhancing my point to BI, your right there in no integrity in CF, I agree, so why try to talk about Saban’s integrity? You know kinda like calling the kettle black. Furthermore, I heard that 6 in a row crap til I puked, so get ready for 36-0 until you can change it. BTW, did I mention 36-0. . . .

  10. Dude I would be riding the 36-0 train hard for a solid year. To the victors go the spoils. Give em hell. It just dont get to me that mad. Losing does. But not by how much. I would rather get my tail kicked in, than be in the game and lose in the last minute, wich Auburn did about 5 times last year.

I would have to say that there is a little inegrity in the business. Richt comes to mind. So do a few others. But dude………The writer of this verbal diahreah is actually insinuating that just cause The Saban shows up and tells a kid “I cant guaruntee that youll start” and that kids are flabergasted in a positive way about it is totally assenine. Most kids would be negatively influenced. That is not integrity…………Thats just NOT lying. There is a difference. I think integrity is things you do when no one is around or even knows youve done them.

Also, I would think that integrity would not be screamin G.D. and other explitives at 18-22 year old boys on national television. But thats just me………..

  11. BB,

I never questioned the mans integrity! I dont think he has any but I stated that did’nt I ? here is what I did say

  13. I never claimed to be a cisco engineer, but I do okay for a 6th grade education, btw did I mention 36-0. . .

  14. If you guys get Reid and Kirkpatrick that would be impressive. Two five star Dback in the same class. that is an area that you will need some talent in , and quick. Rashaad will be missed. But please stop it with the “integrity” thing.

  15. I agree BI, what about Alonzo Lawrence the kid we got last year playing behind Rashaad? He was supposed to be the kid in the all star game that was shutting down Julio. I would like both, but would be happy with just Dre.
