University of Alabama graduate and current Duke University head football coach David Cutcliff has done an amazing job this season, and the Walter Camp Foundation signified his efforts by awarding Cutcliff as the 2013 National Coach of the Year.
The Walter Camp Coach of the Year is selected by 125 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors from across the country.
The turnaround Cutcliff has orchestrated is nothing short of amazing, leading a perenial loser into the promised land. The Blue Devils’ 10-2 record and entry into Saturday’s ACC Championship Game opposite FSU is the most amazing turnaround story in college football in 2013.
Cutcliff spent numerous years at Tennessee as offensive coordinator until taking the head job at Ole Miss. While there he took the Black Bear Rebel Thingies into territory they had not enjoyed since the 1960’s, yet was let go after one bad season.
Cutcliffe has coached six seasons at Duke, leading the Blue Devils to their first winning season since 1994. Their 10 wins this year are the most in one season in Duke history.
Congrats Coach Cutcliff. You are the story in college football coaching this season.
