Friday Eddie Lacy became the 61st pick in 2013 NFL draft, going late in the 2nd round to the Green Bay Packers.

Amazingly, the Offensive MVP of the 2013 Discover BCS National Championships Game was the third runnng back taken in the 2nd round, behind Michigan State’s Le’Veon Bell and Wisconsin’s Montee Ball. And the two-time national champion from Gretna, LA was selected after Manti Te’o, who never touched him on that magical Miami night.

Running backs are a tricky breed in the draft these days. Lacy’s 6.5 yards per carry as a Tider was greater than Trent Richardson’s average. Richardson was the 3rd overall pick in last year’s draft.

Still, Lacy will join one of the most beloved franchises in the league, blocking and playing alongside the game’s highest paid quarterback in the history of the game, Aaron Rodgers. Said future teammate and offensive lineman TJ Lang, via twitter:

The 2013 NFL Draft concludes today from Radio City Music hall in New York City with rounds 4-7, when the football futures of Barrett Jones, Jesse Williams, Nico Johnson and Robert Lester will be decided.

  1. They have an incredible arsenal of players in Green Bay
Should be an added attraction and cause for the cheeseheads to get pretty excited! I think he’s a great fit there.
