Alabama Crimson Tide Coach Nick Saban says his team is not “stacked” at running back position. Coach Saban reviews this year’s class and talks about defensive recruiting strategy.

A’Shawn Robinson just shunned the underachieving Mack Brown in favor of the Crimson Tide, and the 2013 signing class is that much closer to complete. Along with the committment from Alvin Kamara, the Alabama Crimson Tide has earned the top recruiting ranking in multiple services including Rivals, 247 Sports and ESPN.

Regardless of what remains, it’s already been a good day, with signings going as planned…no last minute defections. But then, that’s been a running theme with Alabama head coach Nick Saban. There are usually very little surprises. Some of that comes from due diligence by the head coach and staff in selecting the right fit for the Tide. But some of it is, well, the opportunity to play for a recurring National Champion.

  1. It already looks like a fun day.

So, does this early morning signing day activity mean that we should expect to see another SEC West school getting an NCAA probe?

    I’m betting….yes.

  2. ITK is handling the updating. I’m going to share some comments here. I just tweeted this, but had to add it here. ESPNU’s coverage is a joke.

First, they take a tight camera shot of Michigan’s doofus coach and cut Sam Steele Ponder off the shot. Really? We want to see a fat dude and not Sam Steele? In what world did they learn production?

Second, ESPNU’s coverage is hilarious. You have the praise for the University of Ole Miss. A school certain to be the focus of an NCAA probe with all the chatter in recruiting circles. Also, some idiot on ESPNU used Auburn and relevance in the same sentence. Talk about an idiot. When did Auburn become relevant? 49-0 42-14, etc…etc…etc.

  3. Just guessing, but I would say that by signing Robinson we pretty much lost any chance we might have had to sign Vanderdoes. Of course Robinson is rated higher than Vanderdoes in most services – soooo. Still like to get him and give Michigan a scare in the bogus Scout ratings.

    1. We are about to find out. Seems like chances are slim that Alabama lands him, but I can’t believe this year’s running back bonanza.

  4. Even without Vanderdoes, what an amazing class. DT’s, DE’s and RB’s to spare.

This will go down as the best class in Saban’s tenure; better than 2008. Unreal.

  5. The only player Alabama really missed on was
the Safety Conner kid who picked Ole Miss!!
We are so lucky to be Alabama fans with all
    these great recruits!! RTR

  6. Indy Vol,
Where was UcheaT ratings today in the SEC!!
11 OR 12 and Vandy a had much better class
than your TRAIN WRECK BUTT CHUGGING
    UNIVERSITY!!! RTR
