[...] This coaching staff’s philosophy has been they’ll use the best eleven they have on special teams, regardless of the player’s role elsewhere on the team. Since Bama has finished with the top recruiting class in the country three of the last five years, I’d say that’s encouraging. Like Sunseri, expect to hear some key names called into duty, electrifying the crowd with good open field tackling and relentless physicality…and don’t be surprised if one of those names is incoming true freshmen Landon Collins, Denzel Devall and Geno Smith. If Bama can make it to the final BCS National Championship game held this year in Miami, it will be because special teams play improved. With the core of its special teams specialists back, and the team-wide characteristic of great open field tackling and aggressive defensive play, it’s not hard to see that happening.
Yeah here's hoping I never see another kicking game like the first LSU game last year. Problem is that wasn't even close to Bama's first ever kicking fukup. How many games did we lose in '07 from missed kicks. We lost a game in like 4 overtimes in our last loss to Arky because they finally got an extra point and we didn't. We lost our last game to Michigan by missing an extra point in overtime. The list goes on. A lot of coaches are thinking that teams with good coverage units will sky kick this year and force returns rather than give up the ball at the 25. Hate to think about Foster trying to get fancy on kickoffs. It will take all he's got to get it to the goal line even with 5 less yards. Oh and by the way, this is not the last year for the BCSNCG. Bama still has an opportunity to be the first team ever to 3 peat under not just the BCS, but any system. RTR!

Every year it has been the same talk starting with the players that we get for punting and kicking. when they are in high school all the talk is, these players can kick or punt it into the next county but when they get to Tuscaloosa they can't kick the ball 20 yards. This has always been a mystery to me because there are times when they could make it a lot easier on our defense.
