Alabama could have five players taken in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft with running back Trent Richardson, linebacker Dont’a Hightower, safety Mark Barron, linebacker Courtney Upshaw and cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick all with first round grades from multiple scouts.

Alabama linebacker Courtney Upshaw could fall as low as picks near 20, according to PFW draft expert Nolan Nawrocki. This is because of Upshaw’s admission during NFL interviews of his domestic dispute with a girlfriend at Alabama. Nawrocki said many teams have “zero-tolerance policy” for this type of behavior.

However, Nawrocki believes Upshaw will still be in the Top 16, but no worse than Top 20 because “too many teams have needs at linebacker.”

Moving upward could be Alabama safety Mark Barron. According to Nawrocki, “I had a team in the Top 10 say they are taking a serious look at him right now.”

“There is a chance he could go in the Top 10, and I don’t see any way he gets out of the Top 15,” Nawrocki said.
