The amazing Melanie Collins (see attractive photographs of a reporter hotter than Erin Andrews) and Teddy Greenstein discuss this year’s NFL Draft from the perspective of which five players will have the most immediate impact in the 2012 NFL season. Watch the video above (video player does not work on some mobile devices) and read the summary below.

Top impact players the TCS list include a cornerback, wide receiver, running back and two quarterbacks.

According to Greenstein, the biggest impact from a defensive player will come from cornerback Morris Claiborne. The LSU star scored a four on the Wonderlic, but “NFL scouts are convinced that being able to name the ninth month of the year is not related to your ability to cover great NFL wide receivers.” Also, “As a player, he has everything you want as a cornerback,” Greenstein said.

The fourth player on Greenstein’s list is Notre Dame Receiver Michael Floyd. Floyd posted 2,172 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns in his last two seasons with the Fighting Irish. “He is 6’3”, but plays even bigger because of his leaping ability and that will allow him to dominate in the red zone,” Greenstein said. Also, “The major issue here is repeated issues with alcohol that essentially went unpunished at Notre Dame,” Greenstein said. “But, scouts tell me that Floyd has done so well in interviews that he has convinced NFL GMs to take a bit of a gamble on him.”

The third player on Greenstein’s list and the only running back likely to be taken in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft is Alabama’s Trent Richardson. Richardson rushed for 1,679 yards and 21 touchdowns last season. “Great body, compact and powerful at 5’9” and 228 lbs., explosive with great balance,” Greenstein said. “And he played for Nick Saban, so we know he can survive a demanding coach.”

The second player on Greenstein’s list of the 2012 NFL Draft’s Immediate Impact Players is Baylor’s Robert Griffin III. RG3 posted 4,992 total yards and 47 touchdowns last season. “I see as a right-handed version of Michael Vick with none of the baggage,” Greenstein said. “He ran a sensational 4.41 40 at the Combine, has a great arm—he will be able to keep plays alive. Anybody who heard his Heisman Trophy speech knows he is a born leader.”

The top player on Greenstein’s list of immediate impact players for the 2012 NFL season is Stanford’s Andrew Luck. Luck tossed 69 touchdown passes the last two seasons. “If there is a comparison here, it is to a young Peyton Manning with a strong, healthy neck,” Greenstein said. “Great frame, great throwing motion, really brainy kid.”

Melanie Collins and Teddy Greenstein also discussed the potential for Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill to be an immediate impact player. Greenstein said that while Tannehill is climbing, he looks to be this year’s NFL Draft version of Chris Ponder. “He is going to be over-drafted,” Greenstein said. “There is more hype than substance right now. Good athlete, he had success as a receiver at A&M, but not so polished as a passer. I don’t think he will have an immediate impact.”

What do you think? Will Trent Richardson have the biggest impact of all the potential Alabama first round draft picks in this year’s NFL draft? Share your thoughts.
