Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick is ranked the #23 in Pro Football Weekly’s Top 32 NFL Draft prospects.

According to PFW, six or seven players on the 2011 Alabama defense could be drafted in the year’s NFL Draft, and “Swagga” is likely to go in the middle of the first round.

Kirkpatrick’s measurable are 6’1 and 5/8”, 186 lbs. with 4.52 speed.

According to the video, “His confidence stands out just like the nickname there.”

Positives include his “length at almost 6’2” which gives him great size to matchup in a press system.” Other positives include his “sticky cover skills” and that he is “battle-tested.”

Downside risks include his “only three career interceptions as you want more production out of a first round cornerback,” according to PFW. There are also concerns over “durability and character.”

The PFW video speculates that Kirkpatrick could go 17-23 in the NFL Draft. The Bengals have the 17th and 21st picks and other possible draft spots include the Titans at 20 or the Lions at 23.

  1. Pretty sure Dre caused two fumbles last season and both were recovered by Bama.
There may have been more prior to last season; haven’t checked.
Bottom line: Dre’s a ball hawk and that’s what the NFL likes.

  2. I like watching the draft to see where Bama players end up, but I’m not a big pro football fan until the playoffs and I definitely don’t get into the nuts and bolts of draft day: which team needs a RB, a CB or a WR.
But that’s what its all about.
If the pecking order in the first round lines up right, three LBs could be picked in the top 5.
That means a lot of OLs, DLs and other guys who may be better players overall will just have to wait their turn.

  3. I don’t know what or where he will go in the draft but I do beleive he well do well when he gets there. RTR
