Here are official comments from Alabama about the departure if assistant football coach Sal Sunseri.

Comment from Alabama head coach Nick Saban:

“Sal is an outstanding coach and really did an excellent job with each and every responsibility he had while he was here at the University of Alabama. Although we hate to see Sal go, we understand this is an opportunity for him to grow in this profession and take on the role of defensive coordinator. We appreciate all that he did in terms of his time and his dedication in contributing to the success we’ve had at Alabama.

“We’ve worked together a total of four years, including the last three seasons here, and we appreciate all Sal did to improve the program. We wish Sal and Rox the best and I’m sure he’ll do a great job as he always has.”

Comment from Alabama freshman defensive back Vinnie Sunseri:
“I love my dad, this is a great opportunity and I’m really happy for him. In terms of my status, the University of Alabama is the place for me and that is what my heart and my mind tells me. This is my home and there is no place else I’d rather be. I’ll root for him every day of the year except for the third Saturday in October.”

  1. Hey Bammer,

Thanks for Sal and the recruits he will bring with him!

Seems like Bammer wouldn’t put up the $$$!

    TOOOOOO BAAAAAAAAAD!!!

    1. actually it wasnt about money,,,it was about a promotion and we have a DC so we couldnt offer Sal that job…as far as taking recruits with him its already been reported that this year he was less involved in recruiting, prob since he has been looking at other jobs for a while…yall might get Goldman out of this but Reggie Ragland and Geno Smith already said they were going to BAMA for BAMA….glad yall were able to raid BAMA of 5 different coaches, too bad u couldnt get the one that matters most…SABAN!!!
its pretty funny that Tenn has decided to try to become one of their most hated rivals…guess years of mediocraty will do that to ya….lol….see yall in Oct!!

  2. I hate losing Sal, but this is an opportunity for him. I wouldn’t say it is a good opportunity, but an opportunity.

Indy Vol talking trash….hmmm. That hurts.

Indy we have the trophy and you don’t…TOOOOOOO BAAAAAAADDDDD!!! (You won’t even sniff an Eastern Title for at least 10 years.)

      1. Yep. In the case with the other 13 trophies. For someone who hates Bama so bad, you sure do get excited to get one of Bama’s coaches, don’t you? While I am sure Sal is a very good coach, he is still not Saban. Dooley is no Saban. But your guys Bama envy shows through, because we know you wish you guys could have a program like Saban has built, and that you are willing to hire a bunch of coaches who have coached under him.

I seriously doubt any current Bama commits want to go to UT when they are already committed to the NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, you dumbass.

        1. Now that’s a smackdown — BamaBrando quote: “For someone who hates Bama so bad, you sure do get excited to get one of Bama’s coaches, don’t you?”

          Now that’s word.

          Nice job!

          Crystal to the haterz.

      2. Of course I know where we can stick the trophy !! In the trophy case with the rest of them !! (if we have room)

  3. Brando,

I think you mean “with the other 8 trophies.” Bama has 9 NC… even ESPN can count, as evidenced by their ticker on the post game show. There Is no reason to exaggerate, 9 is plenty to be proud of.

    1. I love it when people with ignorance try to sound like an intellectual.

Plus, this is the most tiring Aubie argument. We have at least 14 NC’s, deal with it and move on.

    2. Nope I had it right the first time. ESPN isn’t the authority on the National Championship. Bama has 14 whether you recognize them or not. Sorry, come back and play again.

      1. And by the way, Saban alone has more than Auburn after over 100 years. Are you going to dispute that? Look, Bear Bryant won 6, Stallings won one, and Saban has won 2. That is 9 right there.
So you are saying that the others don’t count?
1925, Bama 10-0-0 SEC Champ, beat Washington in Rose Bowl.
1926, Bama 9-0-1, tied Stanford in the Rose Bowl, but Alabama was awarded NC before bowl game.
That would be 11 right there.
1930 Bama went 10-0. National Championship.
1934 Bama went 9-0. National Championship.
Are you keeping count? That would be thirteen.
And 1941, well this is the one you guys are always talking about. Here is the deal:

1941 — The 1941 Alabama Crimson Tide football team, coached by Frank Thomas, completed the regular season 8–2–0. Alabama’s squad finished 3rd in the Southeastern Conference. After losing to Mississippi State and Vanderbilt,Alabama finished the regular season ranked #20 in the AP Poll. Alabama was one of 10 teams chosen for post-season competition when they were invited to play Texas A&M in the January 1, 1942 Cotton Bowl Classic. Coach Thomas’ team defeated the Aggies 29–21 to finish the season 9–2–0. The outstanding players of the game were Holt Rast, Don Whitmire, and Jimmy Nelson. The squad was selected national champions by the Houlgate Poll and published in the nationally syndicated Football Thesaurus. The 2009 NCAA Record Book cites the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the Texas Longhorns, and the Alabama Crimson Tide as the three teams selected as national champions in 1941. The Tuscaloosa News described the 1941 Alabama Crimson Tide as the University’s best team since the 1934 Rose Bowl Championship Team.

You are right, it is a little shaky, but recognized nonetheless. But it does’t make any of the others illegitimate at all.

Bama came in second in the SEC this season, (even though they destroyed the newly crowned SEC champ) are you going to question this one also?

  4. 9 championships in the Poll era u fukkin idiot we will stop countonf the ones we won in the pre poll era when every other divison one school does the same! FBS record books actually credit alabama with havin 18 titles just a little….FYI! U GOD DAMN SHYT HEEL!!!

    1. You are right, Bama has won 9 AP National Championships, which is what ESPN was referring to.

The NCAA lists Alabama as receiving a championship for the 1945, 1966, 1975, and 1977 college football seasons but Alabama does not claim them, even though they have better records than some of the teams that did claim them.

So in reality, Bama I guess Bama could be claiming 18 National Championships if we were just making shit up, like FYI does.

  5. If AU counted the way guys do, AU would have 9 NCs. The fact is that Bama had 6 in 1984 (according to their own media guide), and somehow won 5 between 84-85. That is a undisputed fact.

    1. As an Auburn Fan you have access to the 1984 Alabama media guide? Yeah, sounds about right.

Look, BamaBrando already gave you the undisputed facts in an earlier post about our NC’s.

You think in that Media guide, they were talking about the ones regarding UPI/AP ? Which at that time (1984) would have been 6, which is correct. And MAYBE the next media guide they chose to also show the National Championships from the pre-poll era???

Do you understand FYI, or am I talking over you head?

    2. Auburn myths are not facts. Y’all tell yourselves the craziest shit so you don’t have to face the facts. Out of 14 National Championships, the 1941 one is debatable. But it is recognized. All the rest are absolutely won on the field, and were awarded at the end of the season. If you really wanted to know, you can look up the real information yourself. Not an insecure Auburn fans blog trying to discredit Bamas accomplishments. You never read a 1984 Bama media guide, but you read somewhere that somebody else did, and by God, that is what they told you it said so it must be true!

      But to save you time:
Here are Bear Bryants National Championships:

The 1961 Alabama Crimson Tide football team, coached by Bear Bryant, completed the regular season 10–0–0, winning the Southeastern Conference championship. Led by quarterback Pat Trammell, linebacker Lee Roy Jordan and two–way lineman Billy Neighbors, Alabama outscored their opponents 297–25. Alabama was then invited to play the #9–ranked Arkansas Razorbacks in the January 1, 1962 Sugar Bowl. Coach Bryant’s team defeated the Razorbacks 10–3 to finish the season 11–0–0. The outstanding player of the game was Mike Fracchia. The 1961 Alabama football team was selected national champions by the AP Poll and Coaches’ Poll.

The 1964 Alabama Crimson Tide football team, coached by Bear Bryant, completed the regular season 10–0–0, winning the Southeastern Conference championship. Alabama was led by quarterback Joe Namath. Alabama was then invited to play the Texas Longhorns in the January 1, 1965 Orange Bowl. Coach Bryant’s team lost to the Longhorns 21–17 to finish the season 10–1–0. The outstanding player of the game was Joe Namath. The 1964 Alabama football team was selected national champions by the AP Poll and the Coaches’ Poll prior to bowl games. Because of the controversy with Alabama being selected over undefeated Arkansas, the AP Poll decided to wait until after the bowl games to select their champion for the 1965 season.

The 1965 Alabama Crimson Tide football team, coached by Bear Bryant, completed the regular season 8–1–1, winning the Southeastern Conference championship. The Tide lost to Georgia and tied Tennessee during the regular season. Alabama was then invited to play Nebraska in the January 1, 1966 Orange Bowl. Coach Bryant’s team defeated the Cornhuskers 39–28 to finish the season 9–1–1. The outstanding player of the game was Steve Sloan. The 1965 Alabama football team was selected national champions by the AP Poll.

The 1973 Alabama Crimson Tide football team, coached by Bear Bryant, completed the regular season 11–0–0, winning the Southeastern Conference championship. Alabama was then invited to play Notre Dame in the December 31, 1973 Sugar Bowl. Coach Bryant’s team lost to the Fighting Irish 24–23 to finish the season 11–1–0. The 1973 Alabama football team was selected national champions in the final regular season Coaches’ Poll, which was finalized prior to the post-season bowl games. Because of the controversy after the bowl loss, the Coaches’ Poll began selecting their champion after the bowl games starting in 1974. The post-bowl game AP poll ranked Alabama 4th, and selected Notre Dame as its national champion.

The 1978 Alabama Crimson Tide football team, coached by Bear Bryant, completed the regular season 10–1–0, winning the Southeastern Conference championship. The Tide defeated #10–ranked Nebraska 20–3, and defeated #11–ranked Missouri 38–20, and lost to Southern Cal during the regular season. The #2-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide was then invited to play the #1–ranked Penn State in the January 1, 1979 Sugar Bowl. Coach Bryant’s team defeated the Nittany Lions 14–7 to finish the season 11–1–0. The outstanding player of the game was linebacker Barry Krauss. The 1978 Alabama football team was selected national champions by the AP Poll.

The 1979 Alabama Crimson Tide football team, coached by Bear Bryant, completed the regular season 11–0–0, winning the Southeastern Conference championship. The Tide defeated #18–ranked Tennessee 27–17, and defeated #14–ranked Auburn University 25–18 during the regular season. Alabama was then invited to play #6–ranked Arkansas in the January 1, 1980 Sugar Bowl. Coach Bryant’s team defeated the Razorbacks 24–9 to finish the season 12–0–0. The outstanding player of the game was running back Major Ogilvie. The 1979 Alabama football team was selected national champions by the AP Poll and the Coaches’ Poll.

1973 was a split with the Coaches Poll having Bama as National Champions, and the AP having Notre Dame.

SO out of 14 National Championships, two were split. Auburn can not claim 9 National Championships they way Bama has earned them.

Bear Bryant PLAYED on a National Championship team at Alabama. You Auburn people have been preaching and hanging on to these myths for generations.

  6. Hey Whore,

You can twist it anyway you would like. At the end of the day, there really is no way to clearly identify a national championship in college football. The following facts, however, are not disputable:

    1. Alabama claimed 6 NCs in 1982 (I previously miss typed the dates) media guide.
    2. Alabama’s 1983 media guide all of a sudden claimed 5 more.
    3. And here is the big one – the media relations guy, Atcherson, that made the later media guide admitted in an interview that he retrospectively made up more NCs “to make Alabama football look the best it could look and just make it as great as it could possibly be”.

“This much is certain: The 1982 media guide, the last for Bryant, lists 1934 as the only pre-Bryant national championship, adding it in a footnote of Alabama’s SEC history. In the year-by-year results in the ’82 media guide, only Bryant’s six national titles were listed.” – Jon Solomon

    1. The facts are what they are FYI. The NCAA lists them.
In 1925, Alabama, Dartmouth, and Michigan are listed. Out of 11 organizations that chose the National Champion, 8 of them chose Bama.

1926, there were 5 teams listed. Once again Bama has the majority of the choosers.

1930, which Bama does not claim, has Bama and Notre Dame both as National Champions, both teams 10-0.

1934, same thing. Bama and Minnesota.

On and on. Look at the list yourself. Go down the whole list, now this is the NCAA records of who was awarded what since 1869, and you will find Bama listed as Champion no less than 18 times. A majority of those years, there are multiple teams listed. Do you want to know how many times Auburn is listed here? Three times. (two were probation years as you well know) so really 2010 is the only legitimate trophy you have. But THREE TIMES. Wow.

Now I know Auburn Math is beyond my comprehension, but how you can get 9 out of three is some kind of miraculous ‘Jesus feeding thousands with a loaf of bread’ kind of thing there. But seriously dude, I wish we could get Myth Busters to do a show on you Auburn folks.

    2. FYI, if your arguments help you cope with an uncomfortable reality, then go ahead.

Brando has given you fact after fact after fact. Facts that you can actually look up! Damn! To you the world must still be flat !

      1. I was hoping he could explain to me how Auburn can claim nine championships, but I guess he was really just making it up, or repeating what some tin-foil hat wearing Auburn fan made up on his fan-blog. But it is very clear that he lost this argument.

Brings back memories of old Ballplay Indian (bless his heart) and his bud Julio who believed in myths too, before they got banned from here. Anyone know what happen to those guys and why they got banned? I must have missed it.

  7. What the hell are all of you dogshyt trolls from our bitches Awbie and UThug doing over here? You stupid bastards haven’t suffered enough? You want more? You’re both irrelevant. You’re years away from competing with us again – if ever! You have to scrape up some dumbass horseshyt that you’ve used for arguments for years, just to have something to run your cumholes about? We’re National Champs for the second time since Nick came here. We’re 48-6 in 4 years with no end in sight. We shouldn’t even be conversing with the likes you. Consider it a huge honor that we even mention your scraggy asses. Awbies, our 10-3 2010 team was better than your 2 man national champions. What do you think our 2009 and 2011 teams would do to those poor 2010 bastards of yours. UThug, you phuckers may not beat Bama agaIn in your lifetimes. Take all the coaches you want. We lose them every year because everybody covets our coaches. Has never mattered before and won’t matter now. He won’t be taking any recruits, not even his own son!

  8. loser /loozer/ Noun: 1.a person or thing that loses or has lost something, esp. a game or contest 2. an idiot who is a fan of an often bitch slapped SEC team that comes to an Alabama blog to talk smack about his program hiring a linebackers coach and promoting said coach to def. coordinator while oblivious to the fact that the head coach is on the hottest seat in the conference and that yet another inevitable Crimson thrashing is a mere 10 months from reality.3.anyone who calls themselves indyvol

    1. LOL!!! 2 funny!! But IM sure old FYI will have a come back. Oh, I forgot about IV he will have one too. RTR

  9. I remember a time when the majority of the comments on this site were Auburn Fans. Seems like it was ages ago….

    Robert Gerard, FYI, Flash, etc….

    Now there is only one.

Congratulations, FYI. Last one standing, I think you may even survive longer here than the Toomer Twee’s
