The #3 ranked in the BCS Alabama Crimson Tide (9-1) welcomes the #2 ranked in the FCS (approximately 35th in AP vote totals) Georgia Southern (9-1) this weekend to Bryant-Denny Stadium. This will be the final home game of the season for Alabama in which the graduating seniors look to post a record-setting 46th victory.

Following a heart-breaking loss to LSU two weeks ago, Alabama went into Starkville last weekend and completely handled a solid Mississippi State team. Alabama outgained the Bulldogs three-to-one in yards gained, and Mississippi State only was able to tally up 131 yards of total offense.

There is no question the Alabama defense is dominate. But, the Crimson Tide defense will face a flexbone attack on Saturday. The flexbone is at triple-option offense run by teams like Georgia Tech and its coach Paul Johnson. Georgia Southern defeated Samford earlier this season on the power of its running game.

Although Georgia Southern is averaging in the neighborhood of 320 yards per game rushing, real estate will be at premium against the stingy, suffocating Alabama football team. Georgia Southern needs big plays. If Georgia Southern is forced to drive the field, those long drives will have a less of a probability of scoring than winning the Georgia Lottery. Alabama shouldn’t have to go to page 2 of the playbook and there should be only a handful of players on the Alabama sidelines with clean jerseys.

Alabama missing two more field goals last week against the Bulldogs. It brings a two week total of three successful kicks out of nine attempts. Watch for the Alabama kicking game to get more attempts to build confidence going into Iron Bowl and BCS Bowl Game.

Prediction: Alabama 45 Georgia Southern 3

  1. Wow Saban throwing the ball to score a touchdown with less than a minute to go. Didn’t one of you bama turds, maybe Crimsonite, say that was classless and that Saban would never do that? That he had more class and would take a knee? Well you are wrong again about Saban! That’s two weeks in a row he has done that.
