The Southeastern Conference said a web vendor made an error when a story was published on the SEC’s website about Missouri joining the SEC.

According to a tweet from the SEC’s Charles Bloom, “Web vendor made mistake. No agreement between #SEC and Missouri.” (Source)

Later this morning, the SEC’s web vendor issued a statement on its website.

Statement from the SEC’s web vendor: “XOS apologizes for its inadvertent error of making available a draft article indicating that Missouri had joined the Southeastern Conference. There had been considerable speculation about the possibility that Missouri would join the Southeastern Conference, and the working draft, which was never published, was prepared so the article could be finalized and posted quickly should Missouri in fact join the SEC. The draft was not intended to be publicly available, but a website user was able to obtain it through the use of a new advanced search technology.” (Source)

In other news related to Missouri and the SEC, the Big 12 announced it would admit West Virginia (WVU).

The official statement from the Big 12 follows below, but of interest to SEC fans and Missouri fans is this line that omits Mizzou: “Beginning with the 2012-13 season it is expected that the Big 12 Conference will be comprised of 10 Universities – Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech and West Virginia.”

We all know that Missouri is joining the SEC and joining the SEC immediately. It would be nice if the SEC and MU would just admit it.

Clements. “It is a strong conference that, like WVU, values quality academic and athletic programs, and has a great tradition of success. This is a very exciting time for WVU and Mountaineer nation. I am confident that the future of WVU athletics has never been more promising.”
